why do exhaust pulses even have a sound? if combustion completes inside the cylinder before the exhaust cycle and all it spits out is the exhaust gas, shouldnt every exhaust just
sound like continuous chuffs of air maybe with some very quiet and muffled explosion pulses from the sound vibrating into the pipes, whether its a full stock exhaust or dragster style dump pipes?
Combustion and mechanical things make noise.

right, but engines are fairly thick (cylinder walls, water jacket, and exterior block) and combustion has a whole cycle to complete, so shouldnt the time plus sound deadening/absorption make it almost dead quiet?

Metal doesn't absorb sound and noise at all.

Try taking a highschool physics class then tell us what you found out

Like opening a can of soda or beer.
There's pressure being released suddenly.
>>14718144
It's combustion, It's an explosion under pressure.
Without your headers and exhaust you'd have This

It's crazy how exhaust can effectively move almost all of that sound to the rear or sides, or wherever the exhaust pipes end.
hot air is constantly expanding and contracting, it exits through the exhaust valve into the manifolds at a high rate of speed and it contains carbon particles.
>your engine is exploding thousands of times a minute. a lot of the energy is released as sound
>>14718349
In fact, noise/vibrations travel through solids/metals very fast.

Look up what sound is
Look up what the stuff inside the exhaust does
Look at your thread again and see what a stupid question you asked.
