Well /dbt/, I tore the bead on the new front tire I was mounting. I figured out how to hoist the bike with a ladder and rachet-strap, got the old tire off with a little bit of work, and got like 90% done mounting the new tire. I used a lot of tire lube, used tire spoons, took my time doing small bites. Fuck it, I guess I'm having to shell out $45 + what ever the cost of a new front. Yay.

I don't understand what makes the klr meme tier. DR650's are just too expensive to look at (almost 2x or more than klr in my area). The klr, while not the most focused bike, is still fairly reliable for off/on road, and stupid easy to fix on your own if something happens. They're pretty cheap (if you don't get jew'd hard) and the only issue I've had on them is that it's sorta large, but as long as you aren't hard core offroading it isn't terrible. Super comfy on the highway, especially if you get a windscreen for the wind.

race prepping a bike typically involves hose clamps on errything, wiring the filter/drain plugs and bolts as required, etc. whatever fed your racing with should provide the required steps for prepping the bike.

Ride is on sale on PSN right now (or was the other day). It has some issues with glitches, and doesn't have the biggest collection of tracks, but the game lets you customize your rider with real helmets and gear, as well as tweak his riding style. I have my rider set to stick as much elbow and knee out as possible to make it that much more hektik. The historic superbikes are pretty rad too.

I expect they originated as a styling exercise but at shoulder height or slightly lower I find mid-apes comfortable and natural for countersteering. Been running 15" apes for nearly thirty years.
Bars are totally a matter of individual ergonomic preference. I also like classic 'BMW" bars as first fitted to Airhead Beemers. They are comfy and you can get that bend for other motorcycles.
