Why the fuck are these pieces of shit so unreliable? You literally cannot find one that doesn't have a shit ton of one star reviews.

I ended up ordering a $5 Philips one off of eBay, and of course it didn't work out of the box so I spent hours trying every way of fixing this thing and I never got it to work.

So are there any cassette adapters you guys recommend? I'm too poor for a new head unit.
>>
Firstly I cant believe that these things still exist. What about an fm radio sender instead?
>>
FM transmitters are better.
>>
>>14668843
>>14668842
I've heard they're even more unreliable and have worse sound quality.
>>
my mom has one in her e320 wagon and it's held together for almost two years, I guess ymmv
>>
>>14668855
That's completely untrue. You do get interference once in a while depending on where you live but that's about it. They sound just as good as the radio.
>>
Go on Amazon and get the "monster" branded one. Runs about 14.99 USD and works perfectly
>>
>>14668863
Cool, I think I try one of those out then.
>>14668866
It's actually $18 and that's way too much for a cassette adapter imo, but if I have to I might end up just getting it.

Who needs adapter when you can plug in directly.
>>
>>14668829
If you're ordering off of Amazon, it's because different sellers are selling different off-brand Chinese crap, despite them all being listed on the same product page. Your best bet is to wade through reviews until you actually find one that cites the seller they bought from.

Gonna go out and say that on 99% of older car radios, (especially if it's a digital FM reciever and not a knob) its fairly difficult to get a clear signal on an FM transmitter.

Secondly, these cassette adapters act as pretty good filters against clipping and generally bad sound in an old shitbox. I've used them as electric guitar filters too in a pinch. 10/10

Pic related. I had one of these and it held up until I ended up just replacing my head unit because I was a teenager and a stock headunit from a 90's Contour just couldn't wub enough for me.

It worked better than the Magnavox one that I had before it that broke, that one sounded like shit.

girlfriend bought me one because some of my older vehicles dont have aftermarket headunits, just plug it into the cigar lighter and you can use bluetooth from phones to transmit to the headunit. sounds clear as day, works fine on my 79 Supra, 91 Crown, and 2000 Silverado and we use it in her 1998 Civic no problem

Clarkson is more of a conservative than a liberal cuck like yourself.
>>
>>14669651
One location? They have multiple channel portable speakers now. It's not like those directional tweeters and sub boxes from car stereos that suffer from poor software drivers

You will be amazed on the sound quality by having these speakers in the car instead of the stock or ricey aftermarket
>>
>>14669617
I re-did most of the wiring on my car from dash-to-back and used to build buses, wiring that thing would be a breeze, but it's unconventional, ugly and lacks any good properties for a proper sound system even if tied to a factory head unit. I also don't use AUX because visible wiring = poorfag tier horseshit.

But hey, if you faggots want to keep your shitbox looking as stock as humanly possible and sound quality doesn't matter, but just want to play shit 256kbr rips of your favourite metallica album over and over from you phone, go for it, not my loss.

Sure, faggot, whatever you say. And no, I don't wirelessly charge my phone, it has enough of a battery life to last through a day?

And can someone please tell me how I'm being "liberal"? You're the ones here who want pure-bred non-gmo dairy-free natural farmers-market organic stock car head units while holding a superiority-complex over you shit-solution to playing your own music. Seriously, the fuck, are you all retarded?

Why would you use an FM transmitter and not a modulator?

They plug right into the back of you aerial socket and there's zero interference.

I bought an oem radio at a scrap yard for $13 and a cassette adapter at walmart for $6. I unslotted the broken am/fm radio and slid in cassette "premium" radio from 1998 and it pluged right in with no adapters. Works perfect, sounds fine, looks oem (because it is).

No issues for almost 3 years. Car is from 2005.
>>

Made in China. That's why. They're shit because they're cheap and they're cheap because they're shit.
No quality control.

Best just abuse the shit out of Amazon's return policies, buy half a dozen at once, and open and test them until you get ones that work.

Or, y'know, just buy a car with a decent stereo that'll take aux input or a USB drive. Or replace the stereo in your shitbox.

Because they can fool themselves into thinking they know about music.

Personally, I just paged through the menus in my new-ish car after I got the thing figured out, set up the equaliser, and left it there. Just tweaked every now and again, and occasionally yank the USB drive to put more music on there.
