So i've only really found the celica to be both affordable and in the 2 door coupe style but i'm unsure as to how fast you could make it compared to the miata and how much you'd have to spend on it to get it to that level cause comparing the two engines and what my old boss said, the celica is underpowered.

Got a question about re-painting cam covers - what's the best way to go about getting a metallic but glossy finish? I took it to a powder coating place in town today and had a talk with a fella there about the best way to approach it and he reckons as it's an aluminium piece it's best not to powder coat as the heat treatment may warp it. Apparently I should get it professionally cleaned and prepped for some high temp paint to spray on and then clear coat it.

Can anyone identify the bike in this picture? I saw this while walkin home and wanted to get a better idea of what it was when I got home. I don't visit /o/ often, but lately I have been interested in getting into motorcycles.
I was thinking about getting my first bike, and it'd be great if I can snag something cheap off the dude who owns it since it seems to have been sitting there a while (grass has grown up through the spokes). But I suppose that would raise concerns as to whether or not it works? Anyway, thanks again, fellow ausfags from /o/

I'd enquire as to why it's been sitting that long, seems rather odd that someone's not out riding it. They're popular LAMS bikes so it makes me wonder why they've let it sit for ages rather than sell it to someone else if they're not riding it any more
If it's been sitting for a while the carbs could be all kinds of gunked up and would need to be cleaned - if you're mechanically minded that's not too bad (though syncing up four carburettors could be "fun") but if you have to pay a shop to do it it could be pricey.
If it does run get it inspected by a motorcycle mechanic and a report written up about what needs doing/is wrong with it.
If it were me I'd be looking at bikes that run though, much less hassle than throwing money endlessly at a bike to get it working right.
It might be cheaper in the short term to buy something like that and fix it up but you need to work out whether that's better than buying something that just werks out of the box. Who knows what is wrong with it and what needs to be fixed/replaced to get it up to scratch.
