No. One, if the engine's set up for turbo then you can fuck it up by taking it out (better to do a whole swap with an N/A engine), two it's still seen as a turbo car according to the government.
Even if you engine swap, it'll then be seen as a "modified vehicle" which is illegal for Ps (at least in NSW).

Z's? They're an absolute cunt to work on. Pretty much any job is a big job. Reliability? Mine had very few issues. Heater core and a clutch, that's about it. Take care of her and she'll take care of you. Service every 10k kms. Etc.
Doing a plenum pull is pretty essential. It's a day's worth so if you can find one done, that's great. Just try and find one that hasn't been touched. No engine mods, no rims, etc. They're hard to come by but they do pop up occasionally.
The VG30DETT is a solid motor. Over engineered as fuck. Simple mods and you can push insane 0-100 times that no one will believe.
If you're really keen on buying one, I'd suggest looking at the ZX forums and browsing for a while. The more you lurk the more you'll know.

That opens up a possibility, if you can live at home while you rent the place out to someone that'd be good.
Even still, I'd still want a more solid income stream for several reasons:
-You may have to negative gear the place meaning that you'll still sink more into the mortgage than you'll recoup from rent
-If you get hit with any heavy council rates or repair fees on the place out of the blue, you'll want to pay them off nice and quick
-Will need proof of income for a mortgage, banks won't lend unless you can prove that you can pay them
