>>14103624

>>
>>14103637

>>
>>14103637
Bit too old for my taste how is the e46
>>
>>14103650
It's like the e36 only worse in every way.
which was like the e30 only worse in every way.
>>
>>14103655
How do?
>>
>>14103637
Lol whats the maintenance on the e39 like?
>>
just test drive them
test drive good examples of each one and see what captures your heart and your dick. You'll need to be very attached to make sure you keep up with maintenance and suchlike
>>
>>14103655
also bad bait, e46 is really good.
e36 is not as good but much easier to take care of.
>>
>>14103650
I regret buying my e46, coming from an e36. I wish I got an e39 or could afford an e60. Also, for the e46, theres a pretty serious subframe issue that you have to watch out for.
>>
>>14103655
coincidentally you put them in order of increasing affordability you poor hipster scum

How many BMWs do you even own? I always see you on these threads.

E39: Good, go for a 540i you wont regret it
E60: Trash, dont even bother, ugly as sin and unreliable as hell
F10: Good again, 528 is kind of boring, get an 535 or above
3 series
E46: Meh, its an ok car in the 330 trim, but as another pointed out, subframe issues galore
E9X: Great car, stay away from the 335is unless its 2009 or newer, imo the coupe is better but the sedan is good too.

i own two
and i really wish i had a usable garage to take better care of them. trying to find a new place.
once i sell my 08 328xi wagon i might get an e36 as a reliable daily for when the 540i wagon runs into problems or needs maintenance.
maybe a z3? hmmm
>>
>>14103806
He bought a Shitty e91, said the insurance on it was too much, and got a sitter e39

That being said, the e46 does shit all over the e36
>>
>>14103817
You're Completely wrong, but I'm interested to hear what you think made the 335 acceptable in 2009.
>>
>>14103818
Should I sell my 97 540 6 speed and get a 07 335i with a n54.

Dont want to regret it later

Preferably a sedan.
>>
>>14104124
that's a pre-vanos 540i but it'll have other problems.

i can't really recommend a 335i or a 135i that isn't from 2009 or 2010, a lot of issues were ironed out those first two years so an 07 is just a bundle of hassle

>one of 300 msports in the country
stylin on u

that said, i'm still really confused why full coverage on an 08 awd 3 series wagon is $290. i guess because commiechusetts

front fascia looks good with the sport package
that uggo booty tho
the msport 535i's and 550i's with a stick shift are halfway decent though in terms of power and dynamics. not great, but decent

i actually rather like the look of the e61, but it was never rwd in the states, only awd, and manual e61s are incredibly rare, i think less than 500 exist
>>
>>14104143
Yeah my e39 is a pre-vanos one. It hasn't giving me any problems and I have Bilstein PSS coil-overs installed.

It pulls nice and hard on the highway but in stop and go traffic I have to shift at higher revs to get it moving quicker due to no vanos for broader power-band.

Going to install a 3.15 diff to help out a bit. Stock gears are too long

>auto meme continues

Have you ever actually driven one? The auto transmission is just fine.
>>
>>14104304
M3 automatic isn't that good.
Just fine, maybe, but there's still room for improvement.
>>
>>14104304
The auto trans is garbage.. wtf are you talking about.
literally trash.
>>
I have an e60 on non-sport suspension. It's too soft, vague. It can carry 4 adult people with ease and comfort which the 3 series cant (one has to sit really low in these). E90 is more engaging however because it comes with a pretty stiff suspension as standard and you sit lower in it. It's also a little lighter.
>>
>>14105005
But regardless the e60 is still a bmw and a 1000 times better to drive than a WV or Audi. It just has that smooth, confident engaging quality to it.
>>
>>14104304
not him but i had one

fucking awful it was.
only auto car i ever driven and it put me off for life
>>
>>14105005
Regarding the reliability I would say that newer cars are in general better - E60 and E90 don't really have that much problems. If you have a N52 engine the only point of failure is the electric water pump. V8 are a little more prone to oil leaks - but this is not catastrophic. The 35i engines have turbos and injectors (which can fail). Other than that it's just oil, brakes etc. the same as in any other car.
>>
>>14104304
>The auto transmission is just fine.
Unless you want a good driver car, as the post you responded to was implying.
>mash throttle out of corner
>revs flare from coasting near idle
>hydraulic coupling catches up
yew, what a driving experience.
>>
>>14105023
Cmon auto transmission sux. You want to be having sex with you car? Having an auto is like a chick with no tits or a shemale. That shifter combined with the throttle and the steering wheel puts you in complete control.
>>
>>14105040
a) I'm not sure what your point is
b) I don't think you're sure about the point I was making
>>
>>14104167
the e60 550i has a 5.0 second 0-60 acceleration which I think is pretty good for a non-M car tb`h
>>
>>14105273
5.2 in a sport model E39 isn't bad either
>>
>>14105273
yes but it just doesn't...feel as good. its hard to describe
a hard pull in an e39 m5 is far more engaging, somehow
