Can a 1999 corolla handle power gains on an auto?
I decided I want to make it a fun little canyon sleeper, but I don't know if I want to shell out and buy a used one with a manual.
What's the engine size Anon? Ex Toyota Technician here... Can't see why it'd be a problem...

To swap to rear disc brakes, get everything, rear spindles, calipers, brackets, rotors, and parking brake cables for a 94-99 Celica GT, then have the rotors redrilled for 4 lug.

The automatics are slow to respond to input, never in the gear you want for cornering, and slower to accelerate than manual versions because of the power loss through the transmission itself

Get an older e80 corolla. Lighter than newer ones anyway. Far cheaper. And they all use the same suspension.
Only problem is carburetor and less HP. But you can swap engines super easy.

if you don't want power loss and want to get hektik in the toogays, install a TC lockup switch, it's basically a manual gearbox at that point, if you select too high a gear it stalls, to low your engine explodes.
