Why are you only looking at 2smoke bikes? These are neither bigger nor a great deal more fun.

With 1k you'll probably only find very old things, such as kkk's CX500-tier, but it's waaay better than 125s.

Anon, given our position I think we should work on trying to appreciate fat chicks. I think it would improve our odds of getting our dicks wet and, well, inevitably 15 minutes afterwards regretting it and feeling void and even more emptier than before.

completed the "restoration" of my 1992 DR350. Replaced wiring harness (which included some headaches due to using the harness from a factory street legal model on my originally offroad only model), added rear signals and replaced the brake light, added mirrors, replaced grips and throttle tube, replaced side plastics, replaced spark plug, changed oil and filter, modded airbox and replaced filter (real PITA on this bike).

It came with the big Acerbis tank, new chain and sprockets, new fork seals, new pumper carb.

Gonna take it out tomorrow. Spent all day working on it, and now I'm too worn out to want to kick it on.

Update:
i couldn't resist. Took a while to kickstart the DR350, but it hadn't been run in months so that was to be expected. Also these are notorious for being finicky to kickstart, gotta figure out the perfect sequence.

Once it started, it immediately died. Went from half to full choke and that time it stayed up. Let it idle for a while and got freaked out by white smoke rising from the engine, but it wasn't electrical so I just let it run until whatever it was burned off (smelled like motor oil).

Then I spent fifteen minutes going up and down the street. Shifting is a bitch, but can get into all the gears and they all seemed good.

Bogged down a bit if I suddenly went WOT at first, but it improved the longer I rode. Surprisingly responsive with the pumper carb, almost accidentally got the front wheel off the ground a couple times in second gear.

Tons of strange noises, as expected from a bike that spent a decade or two unused in a barn, but it runs like a champ once you kick some life into it, and after starting it once it'll come back up first kick every time. It feels light and nimble while also feeling like it's built like a tank. Can't wait to start hitting some trails.

I had no idea what spacex was and have no idea what a first stage is. Does that just mean it's the first part of a landing? And isn't the landing of a rocket something normal?
>>
>>14090165
>And isn't the landing of a rocket something normal?
No. Rockets are always discarded. Stages either float out into space or burn up in the atmosphere/fall into the ocean.

Hows your rock?

There are multiple "stages" in a rocket. These consist of a fuel tank and engine(s).

The first stage is the big behemoth lifter stage with a shitload of engines that gets the rocket into the air and going fast from launch.

A few minutes after launch, the second stage, which is smaller and lighter, detaches from the first stage, ignites its own singular engine, and continues carrying the payload into orbit. This stage has a much lower thrust to weight ratio, since it doesn't have to deal with nearly as much atmosphereic drag and is already going several thousand miles per hour when the engine ignites.

Typically, first stages splash down into the ocean and are completely wasted to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

What spaceX did was turn the first stage around, ignite the engines several more times, and slowed the rocket so that its trajectory took it towards Florida, where a landing pad awaited. It deploys fins high in the air to orient the rocket as it comes down. As it nears the pad, the engines light up again to slow the rocket from several hundred miles per hour to zero, right at the time it makes contact with the landing pad.

This is a world first, so no it is definitely not somewhat normal. The advantage to this is that the first stage can be refueled and reused, without having to spend millions making another one. Their goal to bring the cost of spaceflight down dramatically, and this is the first step in that path now that it has been demonstrated that landing is possible.

Previously they had attempted to land on a floating barge in the atlantic ocean, which did not work due to obvious wave related reasons in addition to a valve failure on the rocket. This flight was the first since an accident back in june where an internal strut failed at a fifth of its rated load, causing the rocket to explode shortly after launch.

A successful return to flight and a successful land based landing are two important milestones.

What is a good commuter bike for less than $3000? My new commute is probably gonna be ~50 miles a day and I wanted a bike to save on gas and make the trip more interresting on clear days.

its starting to snow in areas around here tonight too, so the mention of that really made things go to shit today.
>>
>>14090649
Not to mention all the dumbfucks around here that drive around at night/rain/fog with no lights on.

Of course they always have a black or silver car, too.
>>
>>14090653
People in Houston do that all the time as well. They seem to think "oh well I can see, I don't need to put my lights on" when they fail to realize that with all the other headlights reflecting off the glass of your mirrors and windows, they've effectively become invisible.

Some people are so stupid that it's scary
>>
>>14090662
I don't see why cars don't always have lights on. My car turns on DRLs as soon as I release the handbrake.

Its new cars too, I'll see brand new lexuses and priuses etc with no lights. Do these cars really not do it automatically?

yeah ive been seeing it more and more lately, its a critical flaw in newer cars imo, the dash lights up regardless of lights so people can read the gauges and never think about headlights.
my transhit doesnt have a fullbright setting so i cant read the radio or anything with my headlights on during the day.

Awful because it fucking RAINS FOR 6 MONTHS STRAIGHT

I visited their non-harely/used area and sat on all the poor trade-ins that the dealer refused to service and were selling at above market value. I told myself that for a few minutes those poor bikes felt better before being left in the hell where they found themselves.

Same with my Toyota. The clock and everything dims when turning on the headlights which is a slight annoyance.
>>
>>14090783
Legacy is 100% unsolvable. Those hollow letters are LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to solve correctly. You enter it right, it still says they are wrong.

Sure, at first it gives you easy numbers but if you post more than ten times per day you start getting the impossible ones.
>>
>>14090798
This.

I dont understand how clicking pics is worse than deciphering scribbles.
>>

>>
>>14090798
I prefer the legacy because I can use only my keyboard instead of the mouse for choosing images.
The legacy as well as the new captcha are faulty. With the images sometimes you can type/click the correct answer and it will say it is wrong sometimes.

"For most of you Harley-Davidson riders this article will be a "awful truth" revelation, but one only need read the many V-Twin motorcycle magazines over a long period of time to verify what you read here is indeed not only shocking, but true."

"There are serious defects in the Harley-Davidson Twin-Cam engines."

What defects? Plenty of them. Enough to alarm you. However, you can fix some of these defects and end up with a nice bike. Yes, even the new Twin-Cam engine Harley's have serious problems. Even the expensive CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) bikes have issues not to be taken lightly.

Those who know, don't tell. Those who don't know, don't want to know. Those who find out the hard way are broke and ashamed to admit their bike is defective. Worse, they believe it is not a defect and will not break again. It is a sin to reveal defects in Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Dealers are silent. Salespersons are silent. Parts people are silent. Mechanics are quiet. All fear losing their job by management if they dare speak of the "defects" so the roar of their silence is deafening!

Okay, here we go...

1. The biggest problem is the poor design of the cam chain system. It still uses "shoes" riding on the cam chains that can still wear out, even with the new hydraulic tensioning system, for that is not a true and lasting fix. What is the problem? The soft plastic or nylon shoes rub against the two chains and the shoes wear out. When they do there will be metal to metal contact and this grinding creates metal shavings that creates a catastrophic engine failure. So bad the entire engine is destroyed; cams, pistons, crankshaft, engine cases broken. It is a wickedly serious engine design defect. Be aware... it can fail at 15,000 miles. Even the new hydraulic system can fail at 40,000 miles or less and those nasty little shoes need replacing at 40,000 miles due to its inherent weaknesses.
