I bought a scooter purely to ride to the parts store when I'm working on my bike. I ended up really enjoying riding over my motorcycle if I'm going less than two miles. It's a 88 Yamaha Jog I got on CL for $300. It runs great and parts are stupid cheap if anything go's wrong on it. I'd suggest you get an old Japanese scooter since they're cheap and more reliable than any brand new China scoot scoot. If you want 50ccs then you have to get a two stroke. A four stroke 50 is completely gutless but the twos are a lot more fun than you might think.

Still not as goofy as fat people on crotch rockets. At least if the Harley has some big fairings and side bags, the bike is still wider than the rider's ass. When big dudes are on crotch rockets, it looks so fucked up. They are wider than the bike and it looks like the thing is going to tip over just because of the weight distribution.

If you're going to be driving 55-60 mph, don't get a scooter.
Even 125s and 150s will be topping out at max revs that the engine is capable of, and you'll destroy the engine in a matter of months constantly driving those speeds.
Get a 250cc motorcycle if you want to drive those speeds at a constant rate.

i also agree, running at these speeds is very hard on the scooters, the stock oiling system and carb tend to lean out after 8000rpm also the crankshaft isn't recommended for over 10000rpm
i soft seized mine twice before i got the carb set up proper
at top speed (65mph) my scoot will hit 13250rpm

Right now it's at the mechanic for a bigger tank, a 2 gallon tank that resembles what most Harley bikes would have, and adding back and front fenders. Future planning for a compartment under the tank and adding another seat; which would supposedly require them to chop and extend the middle of the bike. Purpose mainly being for a 5 mile ride to and from work.

How is the Honda ruckus?
I want to buy one in the spring.
It'll fit in my pick up box when I go camping so if I need to run to the store I don't have to use my truck and waste gas.
There are mods for the ruckus right? I'm considering swapping the engine. Police won't know it's been swapped if they look at it. I'll just have 50 cc decals on the engine.
