na and turbo blocks would have different compression at the least, would be far easier to buy a turbo block and build it up with the 16v head
not sure what you're after but I'd want a car that doesn't need engineer's certs, in that case stick with the b230ft and mod it. if you want more than 300hp you'd be better off swapping to a different motor, could probably get away with a motor from an s40/v40 (b4194t I think? high pressure t4 motor) since a cop will probs see that it's a volvo 4-cyl and assume that it's the original

Hey lads, struggling to pick a new set of tyres (>>14078690), since apparently every store in this country refuses to put their prices online and I have no clue where to begin.

Probably not too much point spending big on high performance tyres for my Mazda 3, but I also don't want to cheap out on low-end eco tyres and find myself sliding into a tree because I took a corner a bit too fast.
>>
>>14079066

Just found them for $139 for 205/55/R16. That's already a very reasonable price, but I'll see if I can't knock it down a bit lower asking a few places to price match. Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.

They should know by now that adding forced induction to the current 2012-2015 cars would make the car 100% better, but no. they want to add 150-250kg with AWD and other junk not needed making it even worse power/weight.

86 is fine probably just needs tad more for overtaking

>>14080537
>stupid m version and add a few k for the electronic shit
The extra money is worth it alone for the electronic suspension. Absolutely brilliant stuff.

>>14080543
Litre bikes are pretty docile for the most part honestly. Got a good amount of torque so it'll pull in any gear and can sit on the highway in 6th at 3000-4000rpm. Of course if you open it up it's pretty crazy. Always puts a smile on my face though.
>>
>>14080551
I didn't have experience with citrix and no CCNA. I said I was willing to learn but they must've found someone better. I went in for an interview but they never contacted me again after saying I was top 2 or top 3 consideration for the job. OB Tech job sounds sweet though, I just need a job now to spend on tech and project cars, or projects in general.

Also R1, I can't handle a Suzuki DR 350 at full throttle in the bush tracks so a r1 on the road would be 10x worse full throttle.
>>
>>14080568
>I didn't have experience with citrix and no CCNA
Yeah I haven't done Citrix myself, but I've got a CCNA at least. Sucks that you didn't get it, but if you got that far you can definitely do it again.

>OB Tech job sounds sweet though
Yeah it's great, hours are a bit sporadic though and you pretty much have to know someone to get an in. I was on the team that build the new Austereo (SAFM/Hit 107 and Triple M) radio station at the beginning of the year.

>I can't handle a Suzuki DR 350 at full throttle in the bush tracks so a r1 on the road would be 10x worse full throttle.
Like I said, it's pretty docile honestly. Engine is so smooth and linear it's pretty predictable. It starts to get fast above 5000rpm though for sure.

Fuck that. I've had friends die from dumb shit like that, Popping wheelies in traffic, falling off and getting hit by cars + hooning in carparks and making their heads explode on impact hitting concrete poles.

Apparently citrix is really good to know + CCNA would be a good start too.
>>
>>14080600
Was my first power wheelie. I'd just gotten off an NBC110 I'd been riding for six or seven hours. Was kind of tired and used to pinning the throttle to move all day.

>Popping wheelies in traffic
Irresponsible and dumb.

>hooning in carparks and making their heads explode on impact hitting concrete poles
No reason to be an ass in car parks. I only really used them to practice when I was new to riding. Even then always ride with a helmet, doesn't matter what you're doing or what speed you're going.

It's really easy to handle around town though.

Juniper is another good one to know at the moment as well.
>>
>>14080604
Juniper would be good to learn if more people implemented it in Aus, I've never seen people looking for Juniper certs.

Filtering through traffic to the front would be the only good thing of owning a motorbike. Don't they have bike only lanes somewhere in Australia?
>>
>>14080608
>I've never seen people looking for Juniper certs
All of iiNet's backbone is Juniper. Being the largest ISP behind Telstra I don't need to say it's a big network.

>Filtering through traffic to the front would be the only good thing of owning a motorbike
The performance isn't a good thing? Most bikes get fantastic fuel economy, cheap insurance, cheap rego, etc. My old CBR's rego was $68 a quarter.
>>
>>14080613
Bikes still don't seem like the answer, i'd rather arrive home in one piece and spending more than being scared for my life and saving money. I didn't think juniper was a thing here, I thought that was only in europe. It would be one big pain in the ass if you were the people setting up and configuring iiNet's entire network.
>>
>>14080622
>I'd rather arrive home in one piece and spending more than being scared for my life and saving money.
It's really not like that. Even after the accident earlier this year I get a bit anxious at times sure, but I'm not "scared for my life".

Realistically though if you can't accept the risk you shouldn't ride.

The performance is fun too. It's very rare to encounter something that is as fast or faster than you are.

I'm thinking of gearing the R1 down a bit and adding a speedo healer. Don't need any more acceleration, but the top of first gear is 162 which is kind of excessive.

Would buying a Toyota Corona be a good start for someone who has never had a project car before?
>>
>>14080632
I only like riding on dirt tracks. I can't trust other drivers more than anything. Of course the instant power would be great, even a 250cc bike would be quicker than most production cars made today off the line.
>>
>>14080676
>even a 250cc bike would be quicker than most production cars made today off the line.
A lot of the faster 250s (MC22, ZX2R, etc) and to a lesser extend have this feeling of winding up before you get any real performance. Fast definitely but you pretty much need to drop a gear (or two on a 250) to really GO.

The litre bike doesn't have that winding up, there's just power everywhere. That's really what makes it feel nice to ride around town. For me personally anyway.
>>
>>14080671
>Toyota Corona
Nah, Buy like a KE30, KE70, Datsun 1200 ute, Anything pre 80s would be a great project car. Maybe even 90s jap. Old Faclons or pre commodore, VL, VK commodore. Anything pre 80's really, except for a few cars.

I love the wind up of my mc22, except the gearbox is a bit to closely geared for me, always guessing when downshifting.

There is something special about slowly revving it up with only a crack of the throttle. Going up to 60 in first but staying with the traffic is amazing. All the noise but no speed

It gets tiring when commuting eventually. The noise isn't fun for longer highway trips either. Close ratio boxes are extremely common on sports bikes, although not sure what you mean by guessing when downshifting, I never had any trouble knowing what gear I was in.

Try disconnecting your speedometer and counting gears for a few days. The tachometer is electric so that'll still work.

I have work at 3:30 in the morning.
If I'm late and leave at 3:30 not 3 all of a sudden... all these trucks and some cars on the road too. Such that the road is most definitely not mine and have to overtake on the other side or undertake and shit like that to maintain my speed.

Few weeks ago I was starting at 4 in the morning and if I didn't leave on time at 3:30 but 4 rather... oh dear god all the trucks on the road. And they're all in a shitty mood because they want the road to themselves too. Every single person on the road at 3-4 AM simply cannot believe how many other cars there are on the road and just want everyone else to fuck off. Like how dare they be driving this early too disturbing my damn tranquility.

Seriously though, some roads are so absolutely hellish to drive on that even at 3 in the fucking morning there's traffic pissing you off. That's King Georges Road... surely the worst road in Sydney to drive on. I only drive it because it's by far the most direct path. People behind the wheel are so fucking stupid these days. Driving on main roads is fucking hellish. Fuck
