I'm thinking about buying a car for myself, I know next to nothing about cars, but I want to buy a PT cruiser, what year model should I look for.
>>
That's most likely the best looking pt cruiser I've ever seen and it still doesn't look very good.
>>
>>14071228
>but I want to buy a PT cruiser

Why would you do that to yourself?
>>
>>14071333
Because I think they look cool.

You don't want a PT cruiser. Trust us, you just said you don't know anything about cars.

Why don't I want a PT Cruiser.

This bait is so terrible it's actually good metabait.
>>
>>14071228
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
OLD MANS VEHICLE
>>
>>14071342
Just....don't. If you're a troll, you got me.

If you are seriously clueless about cars, I'll be brief; it's without doubt one of the top 10 worst cars produced since the 90's.
>>
>>14071372
How so?
>>
>>14071374
Every possible way.

>>14071372
Story time? I'm sure you have a few about people bringing in their shitty PT cruisers.
>>
>>14071374
Terrible build quality
Terrible reliability
Terrible engines
Terrible MPG's
Terrible ride quality

>>14071383
2 of the worst trade-ins I have ever taken were PT Cruisers.
>>
>>14071391
They were available with the SRT4 drivetrain though, right?
>>
OP here, if PT cruisers are so bad, what other cars could I look for that get similar gas mileage for a reasonable price.
>>
>>14071397
The Neon SRT-4 did 0-60 in ~5.5 seconds

The fastest spec PT Cruiser is over 7 seconds. Which still doesn't address the fact that everyting else about the car is horrible

>>14071425
what is your actual budget? And what are you actually looking for?
>>
Read the sticky faggot and delete your pointless thread.
>>
>>14071433
Budget of around 4000-7000 dollars. I've been looking at mini coopers too. inb4 those are shit too.
>>
>>14071425
Decently, Chevrolet HHR
Same designer of the PT
>>
>>14071457
>mini cooper
>for 5 grand

Jesus christ, you know how to pick shitty cars anon
>>
>>14071457
This has to be a fucking troll.

Mini coopers are literally one of the least reliable brands
>>
>>14071457
What do you want in a car?

Do you drive a lot?

Do you need to move a bunch of people or shit around regularly?
>>
>>14071475
As I've said, I know nothing about cars.
>>
>>14071457
Just fucking don't

What's wrong with you? Get something reliable, something cheap as a first car.

Examples: Anything volvo, Anything Toyota (can personally recommend corolla)
>>
>>14071489
This don't worry about look worry about reliability.

Looks won't fix breakdowns.
>>
>>14071484
Just something to get me to work and back. I don't move anything around, I only ravel about 5 miles total a day to get to and from work.
>>
>>14071501
basically anything on the top half of the sticky then my friend
>>
>>14071228
>I know next to nothing about cars
>I want to buy a PT cruiser

sounds about right
>>
>>14071496
Exactly. Looks won't get you anywhere when you're stranded because it overheated.
Although I suppose at least you'll have something nice to look at.
>>
>>14071512
Maybe not the Corvettes or F-Bodies....
>>
>>14071531
True but basically any of the sedans/coupes/hatchbacks/wagons
>>
>>14071489
well volvo s40 and v40 is terrible build quality dont buy one

anon what the fuck, you really know how to metaphorically pick out a two logs of shit in a haystack of candy
>>
Might as well get a VW sedan or something
>>
>>14071543
>implying
>>
>>14071457
You're picking bad cars anon. Bad image, bad vehicle quality, bad everything.

Buy a cheap Japanese econobox, if you're not that big on cars (which is the impression I get) then they'll serve you just fine. If you really must have a hatchback style car, check out older imprezas. Might not want to undertake that without a bit of DIY ability though.
>>
>>14071559
Ford-era Volvo isn't exactly great. Bricks are GOAT.
>>
OP here, I guess i will look into getting a ford focus then.
>>
>>14071565
Basically this

>Toyota or Honda
>Less than 100k miles
>In decent condition

Doable with your budget.
>>
>>14071228
OP, I have a 2001. I'll tell you that even though it is ugly as sin, I perform regular maintenance and the only issue I've had were the battery posts but I fixed that with baking soda. I've been driving it for 8 years and many of the 150k miles I put on it were 1200-1500 mile nonstop road trips. In my experience it has been extremely reliable, which is all I wanted from it.
>>
My mom was the first one in our town with one in late 2000.

I remember neighbors just walking into our yard to look inside it like they were at a dealership or something.

It has been quite reliable. My father rear-ended a Ford Econovan in it and fucked the radiator. Also, the manual seat lever drivers side literally broke off in my hand one day. The plastic dashboard has also developed at least 9 hariline cracks, and the electrical systems forced my father to take out the fuse for the foglights and interior lights.

All minor issues. The car still cranks and the car still drives. It is now a 15yo car. It's my mom's beater now when she doesn't want to drive the Merc C300.

We just learned 3 months ago that the side mirrors manually fold in....

A Toyota is the answer to your questions, m8.
Go for a Corolla or a Camry.
