What's the best pickup configuration and why is it Extended Cab, Long Bed, 4X4 with Off-road package?
>>14047486
>implying it isn't crew cab long bed
>>14047486
have to agree. same wheelbase as the fuckhueg crew cabs but with more bed space. shame thats a super duty though, off-road package hardly means shit
>>14047486
Rclb 2wd the configuration of work
>>14047486
>long bed
>off-road
good luck with that
>>14047486
I drive a long bed mega cab 3500 ram at work. Great truck, super comfy.
So much yesssss....
It isn't. Single cab, 4x4 is best. Shorter trucks are easier to maneuver with plow in tight spaces.
Git wreckt nerds.
>>14047560
>He doesn't recline in his car for power naps
>implying shortbed, regular cab isn't best
>>14047583
about 6,000-7,000 lbs in the bed
>>14047598
>Implying shortbed, reg cab is superior
I have an extended cab but want a quad cab, wish they made a 4 door Raptor with a 72" bed. The new Tacoma is nice in some ways but the grill/front end is just too ridiculous for me.

>>14047681
Yeah I remember. It's not sideways this time though haha
crew/6.5' bed
>>14047691
I like the chebby beauty rings / center cap rims you have on her.
>>14047698
Useless
Can't even fit an ATV and a toolbox in there without having the tailgate down
>>14047738
>toolbox
what do you think the crew cab is for, sure as hell isn't for people
>>14047745
Then why the fuck have a crew cab to begin with
>>14047757
lockable, out of the elements. plus, i need a tidy tank in the bed occasionally. but really
>leaving all your shit in the bed
>not taking tool box/tidy tank out whenever you can
autism confirmed
>>14047772
>constantly taking all that shit in and out instead of having a good, locking toolbox
>b-but muh nonexistent bed space
>>14047518
This
ive owned regular cab long beds, regular cab short beds, extended cab long bed, extended cab short bed and crew cab long bed
>extended cab long bed HD is master race
8 foot bed and can seat 6, and sturdy enough to put up with a good deal of abuse
Lets all just agree that trucks are better then dickshit GTRs and ae86s
>>14047698
>>14047745
jesus that is ugly
Single cab short bed master race
>>14047486
>Break over angle of mini
>Rear axle has the downward force of a pigeons fart on it
>Hurrr truuuuck design is too big and long to actually navigate down trails
Anyway, extended cab ranger or similar for the best balance of truck/offroad/general use
>>14047486
Short bed
Normal cab
Inline Four Engine
2WD

>Master Race
Crew cab short box ftw

>>14047518
BUT I THOUGHT>>14047505 IS WHAT YOU NEED FOR OFFROAD? THIS MUH WORK TRUCK! OILFIELD TRASH AND PROUD!
>>14047521
>long bed mega cab
Doesn't exist, except in aftermarket modification.
>>14047486
>Off-road package?
Because this is utterly pointless.
>>14047486
As someone who has an extended cab. Fuck extended cabs. There's a reason GM and FCA killed them off to make double cabs.
I've owned both an extended cab and a regular and my next truck is going to be a double cab or a crew cab.
>>14049221
why wouldnt you want skid plates, and upgraded shocks from the factory?
>>14049333
I don't need skidplates or upgraded shocks from the factory since I'm not taking a full size pickup off road. The only reason I would even want 4WD is if I was trying to tow a trailer off a muddy field or throw the snow.
>>14049338
okay, so it is utterly pointless for you i guess, but not pointless overall, my 3500 spent a good deal of time in the woods and im glad i had good steel skid plates
>>14049346
>but not pointless overall
It is. What kind of idiot takes a full size pickup where skid plates are necessary?
>>14049352
I can see you've never actually done some work before...
>>14049356
If there's work to be done off road we use mid size pickups.
>>14049352
most people who buy 4 wheel drive pickups? i have my trucks in the woods constantly between getting fire wood, hunting, fishing, getting to riding spots, camping etc.
>>14049363
I think we have different definitions of off road.
>>14049367
offroad is anything that isnt pavement or gravel. can you do hardcore rock crawling and tight single track in a full size truck? no thats stupid but rutted up muddy trails, creek crossings, steep logging roads and downed trees are no problem in a full size truck. if im going out to get a load of firewood it would be laughable to take something like this
>>14049366
i would have to make 20 trips
>>14049373
Right, we have different definitions of off road. Sure you can take a full size pickup down a fire road. Do you need the off road package? No. 4WD? Maybe not even.
>>14047486

im not talking about groomed fire roads, im talking about shitty mud and 14" deep ruts, muddy trails with rocks sticking 12" out of the ground, crossing 3 feet of water in a creek, power lines and logging trails that are almost too steep to walk up. you wouldnt want 4x4 and skid plates for that?
>anything offroad has to be super technical rocky single track on the side of a mountain
seems this is the way /o/ is thinking. what is your definition of offroad? it dosnt count unless you are 200 miles away from civilization on an overland trip in africa? thats when you start needing skid plates and 4x4?

as far as half tons go, ecsb is god tier
>extremely comfortable for 2 people, but capable of hauling 5-6 people if need be
>6' bed is fine if you arent hauling plywood or drywall often
>longer wheelbase than a RCSB makes it more comfortable of a ride, but its still short enough to not be a pain in the ass to drive in towns
>extended cab is also nice for storage if you dont need the back seats

What the fuck am I looking at
>>14050961
Looks like the rear seat removed on a mid 90s chevy, and a shelf installed for more storage space in the cab
>>14051004
>shelf
Good way to get yourself killed
>>14047699
Thanks, your truck isn't too shabby either
>>14049933
Yep, extended cab, short bed...
>>14051026
Yeah, if you put bricks or tools on it, but you can keep all of your tools and heavy shit underneath and use the top for smaller stuff, spare clothes, sleeping bags etc.

>>14050195
>paying twice as much for higher service costs, more expensive fuel, obnoxious sounding engine, and worse gear ratios
why would you even want a fifth wheel on a pickup? You can't even release the brakes on most trailers.
>>14047486
The one that fits your point of use best.
>all of these rams with gas engines
fucking retards
Because it's the best, but shortbed single cab is my fetish
Extended cab with short bed is master configuration
>implying it isn't based crew cab regular bed
plebs
>>14052521
Considering it was brand new when those commercials were on I'm sure Pepperidge Farm does remember
Doors are overrated anyway
