What if I told you I made a car out of bedsheets, a homemade chassis made of various steel tubing and a mixture of volvo and saab parts
>>14032296
I'd say you were an absolute madman... then I'd berate you for not dropping a chebby 350 into it
>>14032296
just you wait till the department of transport hears about this
Sweet. But did you?
I would say absolutely nothing as I toss a lit cigarette in to your flammenwagen.
>>14032327
Yeah it has a B18 engine from a volvo 122 and a saab front axle. I havent been over 20mph. It has no suspensions and is a doriftu fireball wagon
Your death will be a glorious one.
What's your strategy for ensuring the cloth doesn't touch the manifolds?
>>14032369
The hoods are made of sheet metal but everything behind the wooden firewall is wood and bedsheets
>>14032360
Needs plumbing fixture individual header pipes bolted direct to head coming out the side cowl and a rich mixture. temporary spares for period correct grip and heat those front spindle mounts and get some positive camber up front.
Are you going to dope the fabric like an aircraft?
>I like it, would Nuvolari
>>14032296
You're better than most of /o.
Godspeed, Anon.
>>14032296
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
>>14032418
I wish but Im low on pipe now and I have crazy camber up front due to bad axle welding. The sheets were sprayed with adhesive and a bit of clear coat for some slipperiness
>>14032296
Do you plan to die historic on the fury road, OP?
What cars did you use to model yours or get inspiration?
Alot of aircraft use cloth.
i like it when people make a car less safe than a motorcyle.
wait what the fuck?
how much does this thing weigh
>>14032460
Yes. Shiny and chrome. Theres also a homemade shotgun to go with it
looks like an express ticket to Valhalla
>>14032477
I can deadlift the front of it by the frame when the engine isnt in it
>>14032478
WITNESSED
This is fucking cool. Completely insane, but fucking cool. Godspeed, you magnificent madman.
>>14032496
Heres the gun
>>14032478
>>14032296
Anon. You are legitimately one of the coolest people on this board. I can't wait to see this thing finished and running
>>14032524
It ran and works but Im dismantling to add suspension and do actual bodywork
Isn't it amazing what the modern handyman can create with some technical skill and intelligence?
>>14032516
how do you load that summabitch
>>14032561
Black powder. It also fits a 12 gauge shell but its to scary to try. It operates off of pushrods from a Volvo B16
>>14032570
the thread is now /ok/
>>14032615
>iknowthisfeel.jpeg
>>14032491
Awesome. How much did this build cost?
Once you have all the suspension bits sorted you could fit a roll cage and try to track it.
I actually dont think a track would let you drive this thing on it now that I think about it
What are you going to name your contraption,OP?
>>14032637
Probably to get back his wives from Charlise Theron.
>>14032637
Total cost was probably $100. Some cutting wheels, a couple spools of wire and the sheets
10/10 anon. This is fantastic.
10/10 thread
>>14032296
id say i want to follow in your footsteps
>>14032516
Fukkin sweet mate. You are the road warrior.
>>14032296
I'd say you're the first person to give me any hope in this board in a long time
>>14032296
In our darkest hour, you have brought us hope.
Thank you, OP.
>>14032296
>>14032516
awesome
>>14032296
>>14032516
Fucking outstanding.
Give this man a medal! Give him two!
When you get that shit finished you need to post webms.
>>14032516
>>14032296
Do you have a video of yourself driving and/or shooting that thing?
Best bread
cool
i want to see a picture of the chassis without the body and bedsheets mounted. drive train exposed.
Whats the end game? Just a neat project or do you actually have a reason or goal you're working for
bump for greatness
>>14033498
>>14033463
Heres a chassis pic before it was completely done. No endgame just a fun winter project with one of my friends
Here it is with the beginnings of a body
>>14033844
Take a video if it driving, I wanna see it in action!
>>14033898
I had one on my friends facebook but I dont know on what device its on. Ill try to upload it to youtube and then make a new thread.
In the brightest day, in the blackest night, makeshift anon shines his light
Heres more chassis
Holy shit this is pretty damn awesome. It makes me really want to learn how to weld and throw something like this together...
Feel like I could probably scrounge an engine and tranny from the junkyard somewhere...
This is the /o/ equivalent of building a tiny house
I know a bunch of old dudes who throw away old I6 engines from the 70's, they'd be a fucking rocket in something like this
OP, you have inspired me.
I'm a mechanic, so I should be able to scrounge up all the parts I need, plus something like an RB30 or an old holden V8 for cheap.
What kind of welder are you using? I have a basic as fuck stick welder that I want to learn to use properly, so this might be the perfect kind of project for me.
>>14032296
Do you have any clue what the power/weight ratio of that thing is?
>tfw you will never build an ancient hot rod
how safe does it feel at the 20mph you mentioned earlier?
>>14032516
>>14032296
You should do some biathlon type shit, drive along and shoot targets, while a friend films.
>>14032665
You could make back the cost of construction with YouTube ads alone.
>>14034966
You answered your own question with that pic.
>>14032346
Underrated post.
>>14033940
Go back to ded, William Blake.
>>14034951
> Stick welder
Try not to blow too many holes
>>14032296
Pigfat
how did you get the actual parts? was it a junkyard find?
>>14032296
>the dashboard is literally a board
>>14032418
What is am Nuvolari?
>>14032516
TIME TO GO INNA METRO
>>14036965
Not at all. It lost traction and almost flipped
This is what Ive done now with a volvo subframe so it can have front suspension. It has a 71 inch wheelbase
>>14032536
You are keeping the sheets right?
>>14032516
You should fire it just so everyone can shut the fuck up about how criminals can just build their own guns when it blows up.
>>14038747
It fires and works fine. The barrels are thicker than most shotguns and it's black powder so load strength can be varied so as to not hurt the parts
>>14038169
The parts are from my friends deceased dad who left him a handful of 1960s volvos and a few 1980s saabs. The frame is just steel tubing that one would use for fence posts
>>14038874
Are there any whole volvo cars? 60s were a sexy time for volvo
>>14038747
>Implying criminals can't make their own guns
Pic related, pump action shotgun made in Chechnya from plumbing parts
>>14039066
Anything made in Chechnya or the Khyber Pass doesn't count. In those places dwell wizards.
>>14038874
strongest frame material... in the world
>>14039014
Yeah theres a restored p1800 and restored 122
>>14039212

What about Australia?

>>14034951
Stick welding is great for everything except thin panel welding. Me and my brother are making a rat rod and deciding whether to weld the body panels on or rivet them, even though we have a mig welder. I think it'd look amazing with rivets.
>>14032296
>I made a car out of bedsheets
you are going to fiberglass that right?
...right?
>>14032516
>>14032296
>>14032296
what kind of engine is that?
>>14032296
i love how all 4 tyres are different and still screwed up
