Anyone who has a helmet communicator how does it talk to other helmets? I know they have bluetooth for connecting to your phone but how does it broadcast to other people? Im looking to figure out what frequencies / bands it works on and if it is like CV or whatever. Thanks :)

Like $18,000~ right?
The Empulse kind of interests me. The Zero bikes don't have any clutch or shifter at all, yet the Empulse does. Though apparently you don't have to clutch in all the time, and you can start in any gear from a dead stop.

What was it like to ride?

It felt a little under powered, but I'm used to my FZ09 now so if it doesn't try to rip me off the seat it feels sluggish.

It's compact too. Would be good for smaller riders and despite the weight I could throw it around pretty easily. They took a lot of time getting the balance point right on it.

Much better to ride than the Zeros

Good gear although I dislike the company in general as they wish to lower the standards for things like CE certified armor.

Try all the brands you can get your hands on.

Thats really surprising since they make so many solid pieces of armored gear. Their armored shorts and jackets are super nice.

It depends on the base bike, 450? not really. They require far too constant maintenance (every 800km) and have some fragility about them in stuff like the gearbox, the lower stress the engine like a 690 KTM, dr-z400, XR650R, WR250X etc.

Just don't get a CRF250L
>>
>>13980752
the engine. a compression stroke takes a good amount of torque to move.
>>
>>13980764
didn't finish my thought, the lower stress the engine the better. Check the manuals for service intervals.

IMO motards are weekend bikes not dailies, but it's fine if you get one of the lower stress bikes.

CRF250L has a spaghetti frame, they bend in at the frame if you drop one on a rock out on a trail or on the road, I saw one bend the frame in at the peg when it was dropped on concrete and he showed me the other side and it had been bent in there too.

Over here once your frame is fucked the bike is fucked and basically impossible to re-register.

Can someone tell me what happens at local bike meet / rides. I'm pretty autistic and feel uncomfortable making conversations with new people. I love riding though. It's hard to tell on the local fb group what goes down. I'd like it if its just pull up at a certain time then all go cruise and fuck off after a while, but I'm worried we will have to ride somewhere then sit and talk for a hour.
I think it would be a good way for me to meet people though since I lost all my friends because I decided to go clean.

Rasputin the scooterfaggot here, got a few things to say

You guys kind of convinced me a few things, next year i'm going to china for a few years to tech English if i can't get a real job in Australia, i'll keep my scoot till then because i'll be scooting around Chinese cities on fake Hondas if i go. but if i get a real job and end up in Melbourne, I'll get a full motorcycle licence and get a 250cc bike

either way, once i am in melbs, i'll get a 250cc real motorbike and maybe a small scooter as well. I got a scoot for the practicality, but it's so much damned fun that i want to be able to go faster than 80kph (got it up to 95 going down hill today)

Or i could get a 250cc scooter with big wheels... nah, real bike. scoots are fun and easy to ride, but they are mostly just fun and put a smile on my face, and motorbikes are apparently even more fun.

Also

>tell /o/ i ride with visor up
>they chastise me
>put it down today
>MASSIVE bug splatters on my visor

A clean bike is a happy bike. But I hate that it gets dark out so quickly here in Arizona nowadays. Probably see something I miss tomorrow and I'll get pissed off for missing it. Or doubly so I should say, I'm already pissed at seeing a few drops of oil that looked like it dripped off the vent hoses. Was going to a local shop's classic bike show tomorrow and saw that crap. I don't think it's anything too severe, oil level was just fine, but am curious why it looks like it dripped off the vent hoses. She's an old bike 29 year old bike with roughly 55k or so miles so it's to be expected, especially since she had signs of being abused before I got her.

Talked to my buddy at the bike shop yesterday. His brand new R1 has a recall for the transmission. No ride, no sale .

TFW, he is still making payments on a high that might spontaneously lock up the transmission.
>>
>>13980722
Funny thing. My dad was 400 pounds at one point, still rode his hotted-up Suzuki TL-1000R absolutely everywhere in the summer. The rest of his riding club couldn't keep up, the second-fastest guy had a bone-stock CBR750 if memory serves. Was hilarious watching him win street drags and blow the whole group away on every highway run. He was always looking to beef up the bike a bit more, always found it a little too slow off the line, even at full go. Always trying new tires, exhaust work, ratio-tweaking, anything to get a bit more kick out of it.

When he started losing weight, every single day he rode the bike for a solid month, he got a speeding ticket, or at least a warning. He couldn't believe how fucking fast that bike was now that it wasn't carrying literally double its weight (the bike weighs 420-something dry).

Now that he's burned it off, he's just terrifyingly quick absolutely everywhere.

>>13982612
There is no "ideal" engine size for beginners. You can't really measure how good a bike is for beginners solely by displacement because it leaves out literally all the information you need to work out what bike is best for you.

>See: RGV250 is a terrible idea for a rider with no experience, whereas an FZ6R is much more appropriate.

You should hold on to your first bike until you "know" you're ready for something else (i.e. 1.5-2 years after you bought it).

Knowing when you're ready to move up isn't when you "get bored" of whatever you're on, for the record. You might be able to max it out in a straight line, but I guarantee you won't be able to scrape pegs with correct body positioning for a long while after you get your first bike.

>tl;dr you're asking questions that only you can answer

so laugh. just stop typing chicken strips for fucking everything.

some thread a few days ago was a bike with a fully scrubbed and heat cycled tire and someone said lelelele chicken strips because he was too stupid to see that it was scrubbed all the way to the sidewall and hed never seen a scrubbed tire before most likely.

its become fucking childish the way this board parrots it.
half the people who say it probably dont know wtf they are talking about.

You think teenagers ride fast?
Teenagers are all too scared shitless to even go over the speed limit on a bike, the biggest hoons i have ever been riding with are old cunts on harleys, admitted they go fast in straight lines still massive fucking hoons though.

And is it a sport bike with racing tyres on it lol?
No?
Then none cares, the chicken strips meme is pointed directly at goons who buy a sport bike they can't even ride properly.

You're gay now, enjoy it.

These tyres were used almost to the edge, if they were actually used to the edge thus not showing blatant strips /dbt/ not knowing jackshit about tyres would be OMG LOOK DEM CHICKENSTRIPS only considering the center worn part.

The wheels on that r6 are fully used, perhpaps not by that rider himself but still.

I fucking love the smell of leaking head gaskets.
During my ride to university I ended up behind a Honda dominator, and when he opened the throttle, jfc it's like a two stroke. Also, met some kid on a 50cc something who called my 250 "Powerful".

In other news, coming up to a yield some cunt in a focus wagon cut the corner so hard if I were there one second earlier I'd be looking for a new bike, and my leg.

Anyway, didn't take any pics yet so enjoy this 3€ plate of food

So what you are saying is you ride like a little bitch and dislike when others have fun on their bikes?
That is less cool than me giving people who buy sport bikes then never lean them over shit.
Are you one of those people or something and that is why your butt is frustrated?
