As far as I understand it, there's got to be a positive and a negative. Get a multimeter, stick it on the pos and neg from the magneto and see if you get voltage. If yes, magneto is not fucked. Then check for actual wiring from the magneto to the battery

It's none of the under body stuff, control arms, bearings (already determined it's the rear diff), and what not by tugging on the components that should move. Rolled it back and forth in the driveway to try and recreate one of the sounds, as it usually goes, didn't do it when I'm searching for it.
from all the testing, a few of the bushings are a little bit worn, and it may be what you mentioned, I'll give it a look once I find out how to access the top mounts to inspect them

Filtering is a safety maneuver, all it takes is for someone to be chatting on their phone and you're cleaned up. You should be paying attention to what's behind you anyway but still.

Scoots have a very low center of gravity, this makes them very stable. and they are very responsive and can beat the pants off any motorbike in any tight quarters situation. they are almost half the length, come on.
A 150cc scooter of that size will have surprisingly good acceleration, and it's probably about half the weight of a 250cc learner bike.

well mainly it's the wheel base and lack of grip, the wheels are so tiny that people think they're so good riders and extra lean in corners and they're right on the edge and drop the bike, and it's made worse when you're on wet or sandy/gravely surfaces
it's the most common thing I see, the scoots slip out and get run over from cars BEHIND them

Wrong again. That scooter is 111kg dry. A GPX250 is 138kg dry, but has ~3 times the power.
Realistically, I'd be surprised if you were doing 0-100 in much less than 8 seconds, it could even be as high as 10 seconds.

Would a more powerful scooter be safer? there is no way i could take this thing on the highway, up hills it can't get to 90kph, no idea what it's actual top speed is but probs not enough.
It's purely for around town usage, maybe my next one can be more powerful, would a 250cc scooter with big wheels like i have now be safer? Is the manual gear shifting important? I even have a DSG auto car, never driven a manual.

I'd highly recommend getting a motorcycle when you can. pretty much any learner bike that's 250cc up is going to give you 2-3x the power while not adding a lot of weight.
Learning how to use the manual on a motorcycle is super easy too, they're usually sequential close-ratio full mesh boxes. Nothing real hard to wrap your head around.

Learning manual on a bike is very easy. You'll suck the first time, you'll be okay the second time, and you'll have no trouble the third time.
