Need some help. Been racking my brain trying to figure out what car to buy next. I've got $34,000 cash to put down and for the perfect car I'm willing to finance up to $22,000.

Requirements:
>Manuel
>Must baby occasionally
>RWD
>Small

Pretty much open to any suggestions within those parameters.
>>
>>13946077
why RWD?

Just sold my AWD car, it was too...stable? I just love the ability to make the rear end dance. I'm sure there are some rear biased AWD cars that allow you to have a bit more fun, but I'm just addicted to RWD.

C5 Z06 my friend
>>
>>13946118

I love this idea, but I'd be constantly thinking of the 1M. If I can find a 1M in that price range I may just give it a go.
>>
>>13946127

Unfortunately can't baby. I suppose it's cheap enough that I could buy a cheap CR-V or wagon specifically for baby duty. I just wish the C5 wasn't full of Fisher Price plastics.

can i have 5k? i need a new car mine just blew up.
>>
>>13946077
Does it have to be new?

Used 135i, early ones.
>>
>>13946169
Depends on how good of a handjob you can give!

>>13946201
Doesn't have to be new, though I do like modern features and a decent interior fit and finish. Like I said before, the 135i would just leave me wanting a 1M. I guess I'm a top of the model range snob?

Why? Torque steer, understeer and terrible steering feel?
>>

none of these are a thing

Looks like there are quite a few 1M's in my price range. Closest one is 150 miles away. Bit of a long haul for a first time test drive but it might just be worth it.

unless you're some next level retard you'd be hard pressed to find a FWD car that torque steers
Understeer complaints is just a sign of you being a bad driver

Sway bar faggot and your stupid ass will probably oversteer into a fucking tree before you understeer safely in the middle of the road

Get a 335i/IS350/ATS/C400. They're quick, fun, practical, and have nice features. Depending on where you live, you should be able to afford at least one of these cars. All of them are good, it's really just a matter of which one feels better to you.

Personally, I was in a similar boat as you and ended up with the 2015 IS350 F-Sport. I'm gonna spare you my review, but it's a fantastic driving car and has a very nice interior/exterior IMO. Also in Canada, I got it for about $13k cheaper than an equivalently equipped S4/335i before taxes. Anyway, my $0.02 is just look into an entry-level luxury sports sedan.

I don't drive like an idiot on the street, save that for VIR.

Understeer is absolutely a drivetrain issue. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

maybe he mistyped and meant steering feel is a drivetrain issue.
if so he's right and you're wrong.
>>
>>13946297

Thank you friendly neighbor from the North. I've driven a few 335s of different vintages. I should certainly give the others a fair shake. I haven't driven an S4 since the B6 generation, and never an IS.
>>
>>13946328
>make valid point
>HURRR UR 12
GTFO my /o/. There is literally nothing wrong with financing if you have a good rate and steady income. In many cases it's better to finance than to buy outright (assuming you have the money) because you can usually invest your money and gain interest at a higher rate than your finance rate.
>>
>>13946389

Oh get off your high horse.
FWD is good, RWD is good. Shut the fuck up already.
>>
>>13946391
Test drive a new IS350 F-Sport. I know that the exterior appearance is polarizing and I hated it at first, but it really grew on me and now I love it. The chassis, steering, and suspension in the IS350 is its strongest point IMO, although Lexus did an incredible job matching every component in the car.
>>
>>13946389

I did indeed. Steering feel is most certainly a drivetrain issue. Putting power through the wheels that control steering will most certainly affect the feel. Anything that takes away from feedback or prevents the car from reacting in a predictable manor (TCS, electronic diff) is a huge issue.

The new Civic Type R seems to handle the FF layout better than anything in the past, but why fight a system designed to fail so miserably?
>>

I hated the new Lexus grille at first too. It's grown on me, but I still like the other options better in the aesthetics department. Some of the MB's are also a bit suspect. Sadly, Acura lost their way entirely.

financing a car is the same as selling your soul
go fuck yourself
why would you ever finance a car
why would you ever buy a car post the year 2000
>>
>>13946525

I know this is a fools errand, but I guarantee you I've spent more time on track than 95% of /o/. Not much wheel to wheel, but 4 seasons of SCCA Solo and 40-odd trials days along with a ton of PCA events at various tracks up and down the East coast. Also, 3 club rally events this past year in the 2015 STI I just sold. Also, the Ariel Atom driving experience at VIR. Too expensive for 2 sessions, but holy shit, more cornering ability than anything else on 4 wheels short of a Formula car.

Fiata looks pretty sweet. I don't know if it will be available quickly enough for me though...hoping to buy something by the end of this year.

I'm not completely against FWD or AWD, just prefer RWD over the bother of them. I've owned quite a few great FWD Hondas in the past; an 89 CRX Si and a 98 Integra Type R amongst others. Same goes for AWD, 04 and 15 STi, wife has an R32 currently.

Lexus IS
Mercedes CLA (reliability problems, ahoy)
Infiniti Q50
Cadillac ATS (see Merc CLA)

You won't have fun babying in a 2-door BRZ or Mustang, unless you are highly tolerant of bending over half-folded seats.
>>
>>13949698
And actually, seeing that neither the IS, CLA, or Q50 offer manuals, that means you're pretty much stuck with either taking the ATS and all its warts, or sucking it up and buying an automatic.

Also I forgot the 3-series (which is also automatic-only now)

>Understeer is absolutely a drivetrain issue.

lmao, dude get a fost, a nice set of coilovers, decent tires, and good alignment and the understeer is gone except when you mash your foot to the floor like a dumbass. It's everything you want.

Or be a stupid badge whore and get a Lexus/BMW like these faggots suggest, enjoy the special ordering process to get a Manuel.

1 series might be ok, I'd skip the 1M unless you plan to track it, the 135 is supposed to be like 95% as good and $10k cheaper.

>old meme answer: Caddy CTSV

I own a 2011 BMW M3 sedan. Sounds like a used one would fit the bill for you. It's 414 bhp, RWD, N/A, super comfortable, and meets the top of line criteria. I have a dual clutch gearbox that shifts in 40 milliseconds but the manual is great too.
>>
>>13949937

I love the idea of a high revving NA V8.

It's been a long time since I've tried a BMW manual trans. All I remember from the E36 M3 and E46 330Ci was quite a bit of extra play and no positive engagement getting in gear. Are the newer 6 speeds a bit tighter than years past?
>>
>>13951978
What you experienced was probably more to do with shifter bushes. Hell, even the old Getrag boxes in older Bimmers are sweet with an overhauled shifter mechanism.
