What does /o/ think about the Scion tC?

I need a cheap and reliable DD now that I'm driving about 3k miles a week. My company will reimburse me for any gas, mileage, and 50% of the price of the car.

I don't need something fancy, just something comfortable, reliable, and maybe fun. I don't know if I should get this over a regular Corolla.

Any help would be appreciated.
>>
>>13846045
isnt it just a corolla with a different body style or have I been lied to?
>>
>>13846045
A tC will always be more fun than a Corolla... Then again, Cancer is more fun than a Corolla.

A tC is perfectly fine. It uses an updated Celica chassis with a Camry engine. So the chassis has potential, and because it's a Scion, just about anything you want to add to it is available aftermarket.

>>13846085
You've been lied to. They actually don't share a single part.

>I don't know if I should get this over a regular Corolla.

fuck, thats what I get for not reading all the way through.

I'd say just get whatevers the better deal, whether it be corolla or tC

tc is way more fun than corolla (i've driven manual tc, manual corolla, auto corolla, although not the latest gen). but obviously not great if you need to regularly carry more than 2 people. i thought the interior was a little shoddy considering the tc was more expensive than my civic when i bought it, but the tc is also faster than most civics.

It'll be just me, I need to drive to various port cities constantly. The faster I get there, the more potential for more contracts I can land, etc etc.

Occasionally I might have nother person in the car, and that's about it.

the first gen used the toyota camry 2.4l engine. not sure about later ones.

2011+ tC's are so much better. 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic. 2011+ models use a 180 HP 2.5L 2AR-FE 4 banger from the Camry.

2005-2010 tC's use a 2.4L 2AZ-FE from a Camry.
>>
I actually drive a 2015 scion tc and its pretty fun for a daily driver. The engine is just peppy enough to be entertaining but doesnt have awful gas milage. The 2nd geb ones are really what you want though because like other have said the 180hp camrry engine is pretty nice. It's not a sports car but its a fun commuter car. Also the hatch has a fuckton of room in it which is pretty solid. Idk if the base modles for the automatic came with the paddle shifters since I got the release series one but the semi automatic mode is fun to fuck around in

...are those drilled rotors and a big brake kit?
....what kind of tC goes fast enough to need that?
>>
>>13846045

Takumi drove one of these
he killed himself after
Remember?
>>
Why not get a 2014 or 15 mazda 3/6? Almost the same horse power better gas mileage comes in auto or manual. Fairly affordable

Grill friend has one. It's ok but I wouldn't stand 3k miles a week in it. Get yourself something bigger. If you don't want a Lincoln Town Car, get the 2008-12 Impala.

Implying
>>
>>13846524
Why the fuck would he buy a 2008-12 impala he might as well throw the money away
>>
My friend boosted his tC and even though it won at some shows, it was a fucking nightmare.
>>
>>13846540
Which is why I suggested the Town Car first.
>>
>>13846524
My company will only cover half if it's a new car (up to $21k). Stupid, I know, but I guess for insurance or something the car needs to be new.
>>
>>13846554
Buy a mazda 3 or 6 then man.

I can Literally smoke the fuck outta these poser scions in my BB1 'Lude.
>>
>>13846045
It definitely looks cuter than a Corolla, I'd take it.
>>
Absolute factory rice

Why not just buy a honda fit or fiesta instead of looking like a tryhard
>>
>>13846045
Aren't these up to 3300 pounds in their current iteration? Top kek, fwd has no business being this heavy as a dohc 4 cylinder coupe.
>>
Shit build quality. The plastic panels on the 2012 I test drove when it was new just fell off while I was driving. Not anymore fun to drive than any generic fwd econobox
>>
>>13846674
Because the tC is faster than a Fit or Fiesta (non-ST) could ever hope to be

>>13846678
Nope. Fully loaded 2015 tC is just shy of 3100 lbs.
>>
>>13846584
thats a nice looking car, what is that?
>>
>>13846758
Interestingly later models of the tc have comparable 0-60 times to the fiesta st.

It's stanced. What did you expect from the owner? Intelligence?
>>
>>13846895
Right. I see tons of riced Corsas and cocky Jetta owners everyday, this is hardly surprising.

>>13846554
mazda 6
>>
It's a decent enough car, but there are others. If you just want a car that will have maybe 2 people in it the vast majority of the time I don't know why you wouldn't get a subcompact, for example.

...what the hell job do you have that has such benefits for driving, btw?
