To think on November 10th two fucking years ago it was -5 and I was Dagumi in my Prelude because of the four inches of snow that was laid out the night prior. Iowa is so bipolar it's not even funny.

My Integra heater is the most consistent out of every Honda I've owned. The CRX had no heater core, so that sucked for the two weeks I owned the piece of shit.

For two?
I think I might go as low as $20 for a single corner (OEM used)
Usually sell a set (Head or tail lights) for around $70-100

>Based VAG scene, thank you and your swagtards for constantly buying shitty coloured tail lights: Today when I find and re-sale them for double what you bought them for back in the 90's.

How are prelude's for track?

I recebntly bought a 1994 Prelude with an h22a1 and I've enjoyed driving it. Track racing is something I've wanted to do for a while so I am considering using this car. I looked into the power this engine puts out and it's not too bad but the car is surprisingly heavy for what it is. Would /hg/ recommend I put my time and money into increasing the performance of this car?

So I've gotten this far into gutting out my 93 lude and I'm wondering why I didn't swap the h22 into a del sol instead. Even with tearing out the interior + A/C the car weighs about as much as a stock GSR ;_;

If anyone's interested in it I have a list of what everything I've removed from the car weights. I figure it could help someone out if they're considering doing some weight reduction themselves.

Exhaust parts are in the post. Car starting throwing an evac cel code or whatever. It's because of the cracked manifold. Good thing I've got a replacement on its way. New stereo and new speakers are on their way.

I looked how to swap out the speakers on this car and it seems pretty straight forward however I've never done speaker work before. Anyone have any experience or tops with messing with that stuff. I just pretty much remove old speaker, install new speaker. Right? Using same wires and all that business?

Thanks for the info, I will have to take a look. The only curvy road I have hit out here was through ledges state park so I'm glad to see there is more.

Kek, hell no I didn't drive the prelude here. Even though snow has yet to fall, I didn't even want to think of the lude touching these roads after the rust buckets I have witnessed. I got my gf's 08 civic to glide around here in. Automatic with the anemic r18 engine, eh it's kind of fun and comfy.

I am thinking of moving out here for a while, it's hard because the prelude would have to stay in southern california. I couldn't watch it rust away here.

Not hard, however if it's the original it's a bitch to remove. The D15's like most Honda engines is on or near the intake, so hand space might suck.

So I got my timing belt and water pump changed on my crx at a shop. I supplied all the parts including cam, crank and oil pump seals. but they didn't change the oil pump seal, cause they said that you have to take down the oil pan to get to it.

is he telling the truth? either way I'm still kind of mad because I supplied the part for a reason. instead of calling to let me know it'd be extra it seems like the mechanic was just too lazy
>>
>>13844206
Oh I should mention that when I called to shop to ask why, the boss handed the phone to the mechanic, and at first he lied and said that the oil pump seal I supplied was just another crank seal and that I got the wrong part (probably to not look bad), followed by the explanation that it would've required bringing down the oil pan. Why are mechanics so wack?

But the plug is just proprietary nonesense. It's a positive and negative terminal with a plastic POS around it so you THINK you need that plug.
>The speakers in most cars I grab, and in my own cars just have naked tabs, I've never seen a speaker that actually used anything more than a pos/neg connection. Maybe in hi-fi digital equipment? Would be awesome to have a purely SPIDF set up now that I think about it though.

In my experience, car stereos have been incredibly simple. Like you said, it's probably just red/black, but I've never fucked with anything newer than 2001, and in one case I wired speakers in a 2010 Nissan Versa and it was red/black as well, but didn't have any stupid plugs. My favorite project was a head unit from a 2001 Jeep, and I wired it to work using a 12v adapter wall plug. There wasn't any security or anything so it was pretty easy.

$2500 is a bit steep for a 4th gen lude unless its in great condition or comes with the h22.

The h23 makes about 160hp which isn't too bad. I swapped the h23 out of my shitty 4th gen with an h22a1 (190hp) and its more fun now. If you are looking for something more track orientated look into getting a civic, del sol, or maybe a gsr teggy.

No not at all, get the prelude if you'd like to because as others have said the h23 is a good engine and I personally love 4th gen preludes. In my own 93 prelude Si I had the ability to swap the h23 with an h22 so I did, not because I hate the h23.

If you are looking into track or racing though you might want to look into other options. The 93 prelude you're looking at buying is 2900lbs and has 160hp. If you can find one, a 93 integra weights 2650lbs with 160hp. Just by those numbers I'm guessing the integra will have about a 0.6 second faster 0-60.

Weight reduction can go a long way with low displacement engines but it can only take you so far. My lude looks like >>13837650
on the inside + removed A/C and i've just gotten it down to 2600lbs.

I don't mean to discourage you at all about buying the prelude, if it's something you want to buy then go for it!

I do too, that's why I bought this one. See if you can talk the guy down to 2000-2250. Do you have any pictures of the prelude you're looking at purchasing?

If you get it and plan to do a bit of weight reduction then I can post a list of everything I've removed from the car and what each piece weighs.
>>
>>13848758
>If you can find one, a 93 integra weights 2650lbs with 160hp.
GSR, tho.
RS/LS should be in contention, just as easy to weight reduce, and the aftermarket is there if you really want more power.

I think the trackable Hondas are the Civic/CRX and Integra, the Prelude is more of a grand tourer but still capable.

I still can't get over that front overhang on Preludes since I noticed it the other day, but it makes sense, they wanted a long hood.
Unfortunately they can't put the wheels all the way forward without also pushing the engine farther forward and spoiling the weight.
So you're left with the compromised front, long hood that looks great, but large overhang.
>Looks like 4G's have it a little less bad
>Makes me a little warm and fuzzy to now imagine stanced Preludes scraping on the slightest raise in the road, and loosing bumpers.
On a second look, It's also a thing with Accords since the CB.
>>
>>13848796
I'm leaning towards it but I'm worried about theft; my buddy had a DB1 and had a great alarm, but the car was always being eyed.

I kept my hatch pretty stock and would do the same to this but just worries me. I feel the Accord would draw less attention.

>>13848826
I just looked it up and the heaviest of the 93 integra's is 2700lbs which is considerably lighter than the lightest of the 93 preludes @ 2809lbs

1993 Integra:
>RS (MT) 2557lbs
>RS (AT) 2615lbs
>LS (MT) 2623lbs
>LS (AT) 2681lbs
>GS (MT) 2643lbs
>GS (AT) 2701lbs
>GS-R (MT) 2665lbs

1993 Prelude:
>S MT 2809
>S AT 2862
>Si MT 2866
>Si AT 2921
>VTEC MT 2932

I do agree with you on the overhang though, I guess that's why its so common to see preludes with front lips. Other than the weight of them the only problem I have with the 4th gen is the taillights, they should've looked more like the integra taillights imo.

I was making 100 bucks a night with 40 plus deliveries per night. I was the kind of driver that everybody else hated because i took the most deliveries every night. Eventually got fired cause everybody hated me and i was too fast
>>
>>13849279
I'd give it a shot. It really doesn't hurt your car as much as people say.

>>13849282
Our area is pretty large but I also do more deliveries than everyone else. We rarely ever take more than 150 orders a day.
>>
>>13849295
One time i took five deliveries in one run in minutes. I could do three short deliveries in ten minutes. I could get across town and back in 15. Across town triple in 25. I was a mad man. I miss it dearly. The other drivers would get a short run and i would get a long one and i'd still beat them to the store. They all hated me.

I'm assuming you didn't go the speed limit? Cops always watching in my area so I can't go fast like I want to. I would love a free pass to just floor it during work with non-stop vtak over 4k RPM.

I average thirteen deliveries in five to six hour shifts.
>>
>>13849340
Cops were cool in my town. They got free pizza from our store. I sped, a lot. Most of it was in the middle of the night though

I've yet to get pulled over but they've given me warnings by flashing their lights at me. We close at 10pm so no real late night delivering for me. I've been at it a year though and the money beats the shit out of the time I had two min wage jobs over sixty hours a week combined.

>CEL comes on

I know it's the starter by how it screeches on cold starts.

How much of a pain is it for a noob who's only done meager tasks like oil changes and spark plugs?
>>
>>13852532
Lol you think is the check engine because of the starter? Guess again
>>
>>13852532
>I know it's the starter by how it screeches on cold starts.

Nope, that's not a starter. Alternator perhaps or the belts.
>>
>>13841571
what kind of milage you getting senpai?

ive got that 88-89 drivetrain in a 85 crx and have been disappointed. getting mid 20s, everyone else seems to get at least 30

saw some anon mention it in another thread but I think an /o/ general board would be a great idea. Anybody know what channels we'd go through to propose this?

But that's the F22a...

F series engines are master race, and so are the descendants.

>>13852618
How are you driving it, and which engine?
I get 35-40 highway, 30-35 city with my 85 CRX (EW3)
My 87 is a EW2/D15a2, but doesn't run very well, if it did it _should_ average around 45 as well.

The best MPG I've gotten was 54mpg in the 85 CRX Si on a 400mi round trip, constant 50mph.
Ankle hurt like a bitch after that

replace alternator belt aka serpintine belt. i just had mine snap last week away from workspace, toasted my battery without it then fucked my alternator trying to keep a charge on the battery. $8 no name part
>>
alright guys, found a factory spoiler for a 99 civic that I'd like to put on my '95. Is this as simple as painting it and then just drilling through my trunk? Is there an adequate source of power in the trunk for the spoiler light or do I need to run something from the front? I might be able to disconnect the current third brake light which is right up against the rear windshield and run that wiring into the trunk.

Might want to head back to school boi.
You were talking about a CRX with an 88-89 drivetrain, no mention of what drivetrain (Though I did wonder why you asked a CRX question of a Integra owner)
So you're right, but not because reading comprehension. Just a mistake on my part for not thinking past seeing CRX/MPG/ENGINE

And in that case: Sounds about right for a D16a1 blacktop.
>It's a good economy swap, and you really don't see enough of them unless the owner knows there shit, most want to swap a B16 or D16z/y because hurdur hondafag. So good on you man, I've been waiting to do this swap to my DX
Which is why I even asked: any SOHC D should be pushing 35+

>no bully.

>>13852967
Actually, almost did today, had to move the cars around so a motor home can park.
>Parked white CRX next to MG, and behind a tbird completely blocking the view

High idle pls go.
>>
>>13852996
It won't fit properly, different trunk lines.
>>
>>13853624
fuck, I was excited too. I'm looking at probably around $150 for a stock looking spoiler that would fit huh?
>>
>>13853445
>tfw the spot you want is Z56
>>
>>13853638
Yea somewhere around there. Make sure it's for a 5th gen civic though. Also match up the body style.
>>
>>13853462
On the plus side, high idle flows more oil...
>>
>>13853650
shit I'm actually not finding a whole lot that looks factory. The best I've found online is that you can get a factory style wing for a 6th gen and cut/re-fiberglass it down to fit a 5th. Other than that most of what I'm finding is ricey or a rear windshield visor
