>run out of gas
>walk to mazda dealer ask if they have jerry can i can borrow for 15-20 mins to get gas
>guy says they have one but i can't use it

i know it was dumb to run out of gas but i come from the bush where we leave the keys in the truck in case someone needs gas or a battery charge or EVEN THE WHOLE FUCKING TRUCK in a pinch .. was this guy being a dick or am i not allowed to be mad?

i feel mad

madder than if he had said "oh sorry we don't have one"

the closest gas station withing walking distance was the tiny kind with a window where you pay the guy and i was worried they wouldn't have one

when I worked in a gas station we weren't allowed to loan them out because we didn't want to have them back with fumes leaking out all over.

mechanics have probably all been burned by having tools stolen before too, so less likely to lend.

Here's what I do: When I ride or drive, I concentrate on keeping my speed just-so, my throttle movements smooth and controlled, my steering inputs well-moderated. If I'm not at or above 7/10ths, I'll devote a little time to admiring the natural beauty around me. It helps that I have mountains to go run around in.

Go on a group ride with people who have similar bikes on twisties. Realistically bikes aren't going to show major discrepancies in handling on the street, so you can find the limits more easily. Also, if it slides out, relax your arms. 99.9% of the time, the bike will correct itself.

That's not what I meant. It's a neck brace designed to avoid spinal injuries relating to the neck area.

I'm beginning to think it's not necessary. After all, motogp riders do not use them. I think I will be investing in a back protector soon though.

So /dbt/ I come to you in desperation

I've not seen my bike in 4 weeks now, it's been stuck in garage with issues that seem to be irreparable. Basically the mechanics I've brought it to haven't been able to figure wtf is wrong with it.

Main jist: SV650s, 2004, Difficult to start in cold conditions. Takes like 4-5 attempts to start it up, but once it's warmed up is relatively okay. Took it to garage due to jerky nature when riding it; autumn began to set in and it only seems to have gotten worse so I called up my garage.

He's checked it over several times and is at a loss. He's had other guys look at it to see potential issues. All to no avail. Top of the engine is perfectly fine, sparking, fueling, connections all seem A-OK. But he doesn't want to delve into the lower parts of the engine without good reason or a clue over what to look for.

Now I do realise this guy is a professional who does this for a living, but wtf could possibly stump all these people? Any ideas?

Sorry for the long-ass post but I'm getting desperate. I haven't seen my beautiful mechanical horse since the start of October.

Seems like a major annoyance / reduced visibility through reduced head movement for a very minor increase in survivablility in a crash big enough that a neck brace will matter.

For motocross, where your head can dig into the ground and you're jumping I could see wearing one, though, and a lot of people do.

SV guy here, this is exactly why I stopped going to my usual dealership that is local to me and went extra distance to this guy. They replaced the battery, 'adjusted' the TPS and gave me it back. It was still exactly the same. And it was only through them that this issue seemed to have cropped up from.

>>13835386
I believe there's been a newer sensor installed due to the old one being at its limit or some such.

>>13835380
I was wondering myself if it could be a coolant problem. I had a leaky coolant pipe before that was replaced (surprise surprise by the dealership I used to go to) which seems to have been incorrectly installed and still leaking an extremely minimal amount. I would assume the guy I go to now though has remedied that.

My only issue with it being electrical is that it's intermittent; only when cold thing. That and it's sparking fine.

Thanks for your time guys, I appreciate any input.

Just because they don't use them doesn't mean they suck. Dale Earnhardt didn't wear a HANS and it wasn't mandatory and now he's kill. Then fagcar mandated it.

Also, some have inflating suits to protect that area. Not sure if it protects the neck tho
>>
>>13835449
>only when cold thing
thats why i suggested the coolant sensor and valves. if the computer is misreading the temp it may be fueling it as if it were already warm.
a bad o2 sensor cal cause fueling issues, but it -should- start in limp mode for a little before it acted weird.
how long does it do it? a minute or two or until there is some proper heat in it?
>>
>>13835469
>i just tightened up the wheel... problem solved
this only works safely on taper bearings, if you have ball bearings you still need to get some new ones.
