Are there any good cheap American cars for touge runs?
Mainly looking for something with a fair bit of power and agile cornering.

Turd gens handle great for having solid axles. Name another cheap RWD American car with IRS. Oh wait, there isn't one.
It may not be good for grip racing but it's what OP is looking for.

The lowest rated one was rated at 145, and you'll easily get 30 more out of it just by removing the catalytic converter. That engine wasn't available in the IROC anyway.

I actually almost bought one.

If my suggestion of an IROC is so bad, then please, go ahead and name another cheap RWD american car with lots of horsepower and IRS.
The LG4 engine (145hp) has 240ft-lbs of torque at 2000rpm. It's not as bad as it seems with its gobs of low end torks. It can do a decent pull, mine has the timing advanced, richer metering rods, and no cat, and it ran a 15.1 quarter mile, which puts it at ~200hp.
The LB9 305 TPI that most IROCs have has 220hp @ 4400 and 290tq @ 3200 in manual form.
It's not hard or expensive to do an LS1 swap out of a junked 4th gen if you need the power anyway.

>cheap
I couldn't find one in running condition in Texas' craigslist with a manuel for under $10k.
>>13822124
>lot's of horsepower
I'm not saying your choice is bad, but the way you choose to describe it is very laughable.
Also, the V8 305 was terrible because pending on what year it was in those it went from 100hp to 240hp.
Also it's still silly having a 5lt that you might get 200hp out of still.
>LS swap out of a junk yard
OP isn't asking for that now is he.

funny, here in Connecticut, you can find them for under 5k running.
>>13822134
The 330hp 350 was auto only, so I'm sticking with a 305 as far as stock engine choices go.
Like I said, none of the vee-ate options went under 145. It'll still have more power than any of the FWD shitboxes earlier in the thread no matter what V8 he chooses.

With a manual? I didn't even look at automatics. I'd never consider owning an auto Corvette.

literally the very first result

>more power
The 02-04 SVT has 170hp(145ftlb), can be had for 3000-4000 with 100-130k miles on it.
Has all round 11 and 11.8 disk brakes, independent suspension, 6 speed standard, is lighter, and many times newer.
Plus you get to own a limited production car.
Of course it is a FWD, doesn't get shit for City millage, has okay highway, and has issues of it's own.

maybe if it had better lights.

You can put one piece headlights on them, off of Caprices or Monte Carlos.
