So I traded my 2006 S2000 for a 2015 Fiesta ST.

I live in San Diego, so my nearest tarmac track is Riverside. My track friends are laughing at me for the trade, but I'm thinking they might stop laughing once they drive it....maybe.

This thread is devoted to cars that other people think aren't great, but you enjoy.

Let's see em, gents.

My closest friend drives a 2002 very similar to this, He swears by it, but when I'm behind the wheel it feels like more of a commodity collector vehicle than performance, regardless of the upgrades. He loves it though, and I love that he loves it.

I've only tested the 1.0 ecoboost 125bhp, but it was fun to drive, a good chassie. I bet the ST is a blast, and there's a lot of aftermarket fun as well. No problems hitting +300bhp or installing a diff.
>>
>>13818777
The s2 had about 140k miles on it and was starting to show its age. I'm actually more a fan of hot hatches than anything else, but I must admit the change from RWD to FWD had been a little......interesting.
>>
Its okay guys, OP has a kid on the way. That's the only excuse he has.

Kind of what I'm thinking. With a mortgage and bills to add to it all, the maintenance for the S2000 was starting to get up there. With 140k miles on it, I was starting to play the catch up game, one thing would fail, I would fix it, then it was on to the next.

The Fiesta has been a lot of fun, and while they both handle FANTASTICALLY on the track, I would rather opt for the newer at this point that isn't going to be a money sink.

Honestly, I think it's down to the track I'm driving it on. The one in Riverside is pretty good for both cars and a lot of fun either way.

I had the S2k as a DD for the last 8 years, it was time to let it go.

For all intents and purposes, that's not too big of a difference. When it comes to the point of upgrading/fixing things just to make it last a little longer, the newer car is the better choice

We've gotten a little off track though. I know there's PLENTY of hate for ford and the Fiesta, but what else is there out there that you guys guiltily love? Remember, it's just the internet, no one here is your friend enough to the point of you caring what they think about what you like.

I used to like these a lot as a kid, probably because they reminded me of hotwheels

I take it the track in Riverside is Adams?

The FiST on sticky tires is probably faster on that little course too. Streets of Willow or anything bigger would be a different story though.
>>
>>13818915
This is the one that included no cup holders as a valid car problem
Somebody post the other one
>>
>>13819068
That's exactly it, Adams is pretty fun in the fiesta st. It was really fun in the S2k also with the oversteer. I miss oversteer a lot but I'm still having fun.
>>
Opinions on the Focus ST?
My friend just bought one and let me rip it through a parking garage. I'm hooked. I've never driven a hot hatch type deal before, only FR sports cars and full size sedans. What do?
>>
>>13819450
The Focus ST is really nice if you don't mind torque steer and the weird feeling of "wanna=be" luxury. It's quick, handles very well, and has plenty of low end torque for such a tiny 2.0

I got the Fiesta ST because it felt a lot sportier and didn't have an armrest constantly molesting my elbow while shifting.

The Focus RS will be an absolute monster, but purchasing one this year is a bad idea unless you just HAVE to have one and don't care about way overspending on an upsell.
>>
>>13819055
Hey, the S2K was and is very nice, but after 140k miles of hard driving, it was time for something new. If Honda would make a new fucking S2 I would buy it in a heartbeat, but as it is purchasing an S2K right now you're lucky to find one under 60k miles

It looks like your average fabia, it does not turn heads. Its got 5 doors and a big boot. Its automatic with useable flappy paddles. You can get good mpg from the 7 speed dsg. Mines got a bluefin chip, 225bhp from a 1.4 turbocharged supercharged unit. You dont look like a boy racer driving it. Its a real wolf in sheeps clothing, and thats what i like.

I moved from a Honda to Ford. Maybe you should too? Ford offers excellent finance options like a low 1.9% APR for 48 months OAC. I am a real person and not affiliated with Ford Motor Company or any of it's agents.
>>
>>13824951
I too am also a regular person. Please allow me to tell you a story about how I traded in one of Hondas most iconic cars for a NAFTA-made Ford. My brand new Fiesta is faster, quieter and gets better MPG than my old Honda. May this story suggest to you, casual reader, that Ford is really on par with Honda and even exceeds Honda performance. Ford truly is not your grandpas car company any more, Ford is advanced and best selling and competes with the big Japanese names and even exceeds their quality, technology and performance. The japanese dont have Ford's award winning, cutting edge technology like MyFord touch, SYNC and Ecoboost technology suites. I am a regular anon, not affiliated with Ford motor company.

For fucks sake Matt Farah compares it to the Integra Type R.

Nostalgia goggles aside that should tell you something. I think the only thing stopping it from being the perfect FWD car made is a real factory LSD (Aftermarket Quaife LSDs supposedly end up working in concert with TVC as a compliment to them) and a 3 door version (which IIRC weighs 100lbs less).

I wish Honda just made a comparable car with the Fit. The Fit has awesome driving dynamics and it wouldn't take them much effort to put a K24Z7/6spd LSD from the Si.

I dream of a Fit Si as well. A K24 would be woefully front-heavy; a 1.8-liter K-series variant with DOHC, VTEC and direct injection should net around 180+ and should weigh a bit less.
