The guy seemed to show a pretty well rounded knowledge of Classical Liberal principles in his video on 'Illiberal Progressives' imo. He also displayed a decent knowledge of the works of John Stuart Mill on a livestream a while back, which makes me think he's read the basics of Classical Liberalism at least.
As for Marxism, I don't know what he has or hasn't read but I've yet to hear him present a view of the ideology that was inaccurate.
Anthony's videos have never been better. They're on average longer and more in-depth, his reviews draw from a more refined wealth of music knowledge he's accumulated through a constant and professional interest in criticism over the past six years, and he's cut down on the unfunny skits. The guy knows his pop music and takes it seriously, and while I usually disagree with his reviews, he always speaks about albums in an intelligent and articulate manner. The video quality has improved also.
The only thing /mu/ really has problem with is that he now sometimes eviscerates the less informed, more histrionic members of his fanbase when they get too big for their britches. These maligned individuals coincidentally tend to be progressive teenagers, and so they really don't like it when he makes a half-serious throwaway video off the main channel that questions their opinions. Clearly Anthony voicing political views that won't be featured on r/socialism implies a decline in quality.

There is plenty that can contribute to liking an album more outside of just surface-level listening. I know very little about music as a whole, and it's great to have someone more knowledgeable help me see something in a new light. Alternatively, reviews are the primary place to find things out about the music you wouldn't know on your own, whether it be trivia or neat compositional tricks. Like I said, I dislike scoring because it leads to droning, but reviews themselves are excellent if the reviewer is.

He was actually already starting to decline in 2012, it just doesn't look like it at all now compared to how much he's regressed since then. I think 2011 was him at his best. The decline really started to kick in around 2013. I remember he posted a bunch of personal, serious, authentic vlogs around the late Spring of 2013 but then took them down and a little while later started trying to cover them up with videos of him yelling and such, and that spiraled into the draining and obnoxious content that he puts up there now. I think insecurity is at the root of it, which is disappointing considering how personable and genuinely nice he seemed in the early 2010's. Something about the memes and the insecurity makes me think that this place might not be good for him.
