Christian A. Volf – Volf Acustic Records
>Electronic, Non-Music, Therapy, Experimental
Re-release of the earliest known pieces of electronic music from Denmark. The pieces were recorded on shellac 78 RPM records in 1936/1937.
The pieces are from a series of records, known as 'Volf Acustic Records' each containg sound within a specific frequency range.
The records was used in sound-therapy, according to the 'VOLFAIR'-method.
The Volf Acustic Records are possibly the first known recordings of 'electronic music' released on record.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasuredome (1984)
>synthpop, new wave, ultra gay bullshit
Basically the ultimate example of the excess of the 80s. Frankie blew up with their single "Relax (Come Fighting)" and their hype just grew from there. With EXTREMELY lush production by Trevor Horn (of Buggles and Art of Noise fame, frequently called the "man who invented the eighties) Welcome To The Pleasuredome became the most heavily pre-ordered album in history, with advance sales of around one million copies, however it spent a single week at number one before plummeting.

O.M.D. - Dazzle Ships
>synthpop, art pop, musique concréte, experimental pop
Concept album about the cold war, lots of chilly synth textures. OMD's fourth album; it came just after the huge success of Architecture and Morality. Probably the most notable act of commercial suicide in existence.

Yoko Ono - Approximately Infinite Universe (1972)
>art rock, feminist rock
Yoko stops screaming and begins singing as a form of artistic expression. The songs on this album are much more, uh, song-y than most of the material found on Fly and Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, meaning that it's much more accessible than either, although less experimental and less forward-thinking than those two were.

The Fall - 458489 A-Sides

A compilation album full of all The Fall's singles from around 1984 to 1990. Shows the opening up of their sound when they had Brix on bass guitar in the band, and shows off their mainstream potential. Generally pretty good if you want to get into the band.

One of my favourite albums ever. It's made of mostly samples. The variety and eclecticism of the samples still astonish me after having heard it years ago. It has a lot of depth to it, and a great sense of humor.
Wish people listened to this instead of that fucking stupid Doopees bullshit. This should be the true Plunderphonics album. Doopees is very lazy compared to this.
Kate Bush - The Dreaming (1982)
>art/progressive/experimental pop, oompah-oompah music, just fucking listen to it
Manufactured teen pop star is given free rein over her music and promptly decides to use her newfound freedom to make something fucking insane. Over 43 minutes, we're treated to Kate Bush putting on cockney, irish and australian accents, whispering and shouting at jarring and often distressing levels, and imitating a donkey. It's one of the most bizarre albums ever released on a major label, and even moreso that it achieved minor success.

Akiko Yano - Tadaima (1981)
>art pop, YMO-core
Remeber the chick who made Japanese Girl (1976)? She's back, married to Ryuichi Sakamoto and making excellent synthpop/techno kayo. Has some bizzare Devo-esque breaks interspersed throughout, a nine-minute long piano medely of traditional songs slap in the middle, and capped off with Rose Garden, probably the best synthpop song ever made and enough to warrant checking the album out just to find it at the end.

Akiko Yano - Iroha ni Konpeitou (1977)
>art pop, look at that fuckin smug face
Akiko Yano's still recovering from the cultural contrast of Japanese Girl, and moving towards the frenetic and energetic synthpop of Tadaima. This album is mostly acoustic, with very rich sounding production, and there's a piano version of Tong Poo at the end. The highlights are less high than those of Tadaima *cough*ROSE GARDEN*cough* but the mood is overall more consistent.

"White label records are vinyl records with plain white labels attached. There are several variations each with a different purpose. Variations include Test Pressings, White Label Promos, and Plain White Labels."
It's usually just used as a general term for singles that are intended for play by DJs or as promo releases.

Claude Debussy - Etudes (Charles Rosen)
>Although Debussy was only 53 at the time of their writing, the Etudes are a work of old age. They have much in common with the styles that Verdi, Beethoven and Bach developed at the ends of their lives (and that Stravinsky seems to have developed today): a concentration of such severity that it is difficult to follow the musical thought at first hearing; a contempt for conventional solutions that makes works like Falstaff, the canons from the Art of the Fugue and the last works of Beethoven seem freakish even through repeated hearings, and an impatience with the demands and requirements of the listener (many of them legitimate) that has denied these works an easy success. It is only in the last decade that the works of Debussy's final years have gained some of the public recognition that musicians (and snobs) have always accorded them. Along with the ballet Jeux, the Twelve Etudes seem to me the greatest of these works, to be placed above the Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian and even above the three famous chamber sonatas... Debussy intended to dedicate the Etudes either to Couperin or to Chopin; it is as if he wished to write a work as important for France as the music of Couperin and in which the musical and pianistic qualities would be as integral and indissoluble as in the works of Chopin. The Etudes are one of the monuments of our century

The Final Sound - Nationalist New Wave - "Genetics"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM4YamvQiNI
The band formed in January 1983 out of the ashes of the punk band The Grey Wolves (no relation to the PE group of the same name). The band suffered a number of line-up changes, leaving just Steve X and Tony Mitchell in the band, both of whom were dedicated nationalists. Sadly, this song is the only recording of theirs which has surfaced.
The band allegedly produced one demo called "Play to Win" released by Defendant Tapes. If anyone finds this, consider yourself crowned a hero.
Lyrics:
Walking through the ghetto on my way home
I suddenly realize that I'm alone
Is it the color of my skin or the color of my hair
Or is it just the clothes I wear
Why you're follow this way all home
Black pigmentation: genetic deviation
I'm not surprised that things aren't said
When their attitudes are just so red
In the ghettos, that's where they lurk
'cause multiracial societies, they just don't work
Is it the color of my skin or the color of my hair
Or is it just the clothes I wear
Why you're follow this way all home
Black pigmentation: genetic deviation
It's going to end, you know that it's going to end.

End of Data - "Sahrah" - Coldwave/Post-Punk:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUQUmYGXfwA
A darker, haunting entry in the French coldwave scene, End of Data predated Depeche Mode’s turn toward dark, theatrical compositions by a few years. Yet, at the same time, the group had an abrasive streak as well. Take a track like “If I’m Not a Killer” from their first album Sahrah, which is practically a punk rock song with its quick-paced rhythm and crunchy power chords. And yet, “Follow Me & So” is so ethereal and eerie, awash in heavy keyboard drones and a recurring piano lick that’s somehow playful and kind of unsettling at once. However, the strongest combination of all these factors arrives in the title track, a danceable, yet bleak exercise in proto-industrial heaviness and nocturnal synth pop. It’s the stuff of nightmares – sexy, sexy nightmares – and an essential track for any coldwave or minimal synth playlist, mixtape, etc.
Finding a hard copy, or even a paid download of the album, unfortunately, is next to impossible. You can purchase the original LP on Discogs marketplace for upwards of $140. I’m crossing my fingers that someone, one of these days, will give it the proper reissue it deserves, as labels have done with records by Ruth and The Units.

I've listened to both albums, and clearly, Doopees was far more a love letter to the sounds of the early 1960s, combining space age pop and girl groups, through a post-modern, avant-garde lens. Personally, there is no comparison between the two albums other than the fact that they both utilize samples and are primarily pop.

Performed by Appo Sound Project (who also did Digital Trip Dirty Pair), this rare LP-only album contains synthesized versions of various 80s anime theme songs; each track features several themes that blend in nicely with each other. Also included is some pictures of the album taken with my camera (the pics that were uploaded beforehand on other websites had a watermark on them so I wanted to take some better quality pics).
Enjoy!
I know this isn't the thread to ask but I would like some answers on this:
There's a rare 80s anime soundtrack that I bought alongside some other rare LPs; the soundtrack itself unfortunately doesn't contain all the tracks from the show. I know this isn't an easy task, but how hard is it to try to remove vocals from a song? The show has been released on Blu-Ray already so I was thinking of ripping the audio from an episode and attempting to rip the unreleased tracks by any means necessary
LateNightTales series from about 2002 onwards. Brilliant compilations.
Some are more electronic ambient/neo-classical in selection like Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm, whilst others like Bonobo are more Funk, Disco, Jazz; depends who compiled it.
>Late Night Tales invites the world's best artists to delve deep into their music collections to create the ultimate "late night" selection. The series features expertly curated mixes by MGMT, Friendly Fires, The Flaming Lips, Metronomy, Groove Armada, The Cinematic Orchestra, Four Tet, Belle & Sebastian, Jamiroquai, Midlake, Arctic Monkeys and more top artists. Each offering includes an exclusive cover version by the artist and a spoken word story narrated by the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Self, Bootsy Collins, Brian Blessed and Patrick Moore. Indeed. It's a shame "Play to Win" hasn't been discovered yet.
I can see the Pet Shop Boys comparison, but I was thinking this is a synthier New Order.
The band's use of reverbed guitars put them in the Post-Punk camp, but they also had a distinct minimal synth/synthpop influence. A friend of mine festively speculated this might be what disco would've sounded like had the Axis won the War. His description couldn't have been more perfect.
I like how the song enters on a crescendoing tone before dat funky-ass bassline hits us. It perfectly sets the rhythm for the rest of the instruments to keep time with.
A shame most Nazi music isn't like this. If it was, RAC would be a force to be reckoned with.
Lyrics to the song "The March," dedicated to the British soldiers who fought in the Falklands, surfaced in some zine:
Don’t you feel so proud
To be one of the crowd
When they walk by
With their heads held high?
Each man would give his life
For his child and wife
And for his whole country
Which includes you and me
And they walk by
With their heads held high

Above the Ruins - Nationalist Post-Punk
Before forming Sol Invictus and dropping out of politics altogether, Tony Wakeford formed a band called Above the Ruins which released "Songs of the Wolf", the band's sole full-length musical recording.
Taking cues from Julius Evola's tome "Men Among the Ruins," Above The Ruins enjoyed a brief existence promoted by the British National Party of which Wakeford had become a member in 1984. Apart from his presence, the line-up of the band behind Songs of the Wolf is very obscure and was never revealed, due to the band's open political deployment. Rumors about the identities of the members proliferated, but none of them were ever confirmed.
The record was first circulating on tape as a demo in 1984, but was then reprinted on vinyl in 1986, with "Storm Clouds Over Europe" missing and now presumably lost. No one has ever found and released the tape online. Considering its short length, you'd be forgiven if you thought of this as an EP or mini-LP.
Above the Ruin's music is within the vein of early Death in June, but the approach is much more straightforward, less clumsy and more akin to darkwave not unlike Joy Division, Warsaw or Killing Joke. Despite the production being very rough shod (keep in mind this was originally recorded as a demo) and Wakeford's clumsy performance (especially those nearly atonal vocals on "Under Western Skies"), the band manages to sound professional. The "kicking" songs like Waiting, the title-track and Progress are quite enjoyable even if a pinch awkward.
The lyrics are obviously committed, but have some good meaning even apart from the National Front propaganda: in fact this is the first attempt done by Wakeford to capture the esoteric and regal doctrine indirectly implied in his political choice of the time.
