Well, honestly, by saying Grace Slick I diverged from the real meaning myself. A waifu is the embodiment of an ideal, and most likely has to be finctional. They are everything you could ever want or need, they're a once in a lifetime guiding light that cannot be changed for another. There's no real commitment made though, when you have a waifu you just know it and never consider anything like "switching waifu". It's nothing as crude or lackluster like a wife or a moment's distraction as fap material. It's everything a partner could possibly be that's worth striving to be worthy of.
I was an /a/non even before the waifu concept was defined, corrupted, or spread to other boards in its corrupt form, I know my shit. But even just a few years ago most the boards knew to mock anyone who "changed waifus", as if such a thing did anything other than demonstrate that you didn't know what a waifu was in the first place.
