It's the second highest rated album on metacritic. I do get a bit annoyed how this board downplays this album as 'old man voice' while praising The Smile Sessions. Both are absolutely fantastic. The original Beach Boys vocals definitely sound better on the more delicate songs like Wonderful and Surf's Up, but the clearer production, seamless track transitions, and more fleshed out melodies makes it hard for me to decide which of the two albums is better

I remember loving it when it came out.

It really increased the visibility of the Smile material in general - people in general didn't really know that Smile was essentially a complete album and a magnificent one at that.

The official release of The Smile Sessions has made Brian Wilson Presents Smile seem a lot less necessary and important, though.

I agree. SMiLE is my favorite musical piece (as an amalgamation of all its different forms)

BWP is fantastic, plus it's an actually completed vision of SMiLE as opposed to the sketches of SMiLE Sessions.

I definitely prefer Heroes and Villains on Sessions, but Vege-tables and I'm in great shape on BWP is god tier desu

I like TSS Vege-Tables more because of the drum over the 'Sleep A Lot, Eat A Lot' part. I really love the intro melody on In Blue Hawaii because it works so well coming off of Fire

I prefer TSS for the original sound, but I do wish the verses for I wanna be around/on a holiday/in blue hawaii were on TSS, they really help bring those later sections of the album together

No one on this board will give this SLN mix the light of day. They all prefer the "authentic" SLN mix based on young Brian Wilson's studio notes.
