Let's have a slowcore thread because it's the middle of the night and I'm feeling sad (aka it's real slowcore hours)
>fav slowcore group
>fav slowcore album
>what're you listening to atm (doesn't have to be slowcore)
>discuss the genre and post albums you like
Also I need more slowcore essentials charts so post 'em if you got 'em
>>
I was listening to Mazzy Star earlier, not sure if they are considered slowcore but they definitely have that vibe to them. Nice stuff, I like female vocalists with soft voices.
>>
>>66171742
If you haven't listened to them try Low, Mimi has a really nice dreamy soft voice (and she's thicc af)

What I'm listening to rn pic related
How bout you?
>>
i want to listen to Idaho, what's a good album?
>>
>>66171771
Revisiting Ocean Beach, I'm conflicted about the direction Mark took the band in but I like the album itself. Wish they had made maybe one more album like Bridge and Rollercoaster but as is they're still phenomenal
>>
>>66171767
Low are one I've never been able to get into for some reason. I like really minimal/slow stuff but their music never seems to go anywhere. It feels skeletal, where with other sparse bands the music kind of fills itself in.
>>
>>66171933
This may be a weird recommendation but you should listen to their Christmas album if you haven't, it legit is like what you're looking for I think (sparse music that fills itself in)

That said, the collab set they did with Godspeed (they played a drone piece) is amazing.

this is really nice, thanks.
>>
>>66171973
I'll check it out. I remember thinking their newest album was pretty good, I just couldn't vibe with ICLIH or TWLITF as much

That was bretty good, adding to my backlog
>>
Can someone point me to some dreamy and quiet-shoegazey slowcore? I always picked up some gaze influences on Contemporary Movement, which I love
>>
>>66172284
Galaxie 500 is what you want
Bluetile Lounge
Parts of Rollercoaster
>>
I'm still stick to Red House Painters, is a "conection"

Special mention of the cover of silly love songs on songs for a blue guitar, kozelek adds a guitar jam like the jams of the neil young album, making sad and sublime a happy song that was too goofy.
>>
>>66172129
Unsolved is fantastic. It's jazzy and mellow without being obsessively wanky like dad rock

I keep listening to more and more slowcore, and I always expect it to be like RHP, but it can never live up to them. I guess that's an issue with starting with the best.
>>
>>66172639
Hello Montie are you /slow/
Daily reminder RHP>Oasis
>>66172646
Down Colorful Hill basically solved slowcore and it sucks because nothing I've heard has the vocals mixed as high as RHP that pulls it off as well as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
>>
>>66172735
Exactly anon. Very few albums have the vocals that DCH has, he sounds so broken most of the time, other bands bury the vocals a little too deep in the mix, especially in such a lyric important genre as slowcore

Yes I am very /slow/
RHP made better music than Oasis did for sure. More consistent discography.

>>
>>66173833
