I'm trying to like some black metal but really the "classic" albums sound like ass. I was just thinking this as I was listening to Burzum - Lost Wisdom. There are some good ideas in there but they are either grating, annoying or too boring. Are there any black metal albums that are more streamlined? Pic related, I like the track "Gorgoroth" from this. I also like Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger. Maybe I should try more Immortal. But is there anything newer that's good, if not transcendent?

Power metal is awesome but black metal has some good ideas regarding atmosphere and moods. Enslaved has some good songs, Graveland and Walknut too.
