Basinski is excellent background music but I honestly couldn't imagine sitting down and listening to a seven-second loop of music for an hour. and this is coming from a fan of Steve Reich, Philip Glass, LaMonte Young, Terry Riley, etc.

ambient is good as long as there is musical development, which Basinski rejects in favor of musical degredation. it's fascinating, but it doesn't exactly make for a user-friendly listening experience. here's my recommendation.

I've listened to that album a bunch and love it but thanks for the reco any other ambient that's a bit less known?

i'll be frank with you friend, i don't listen to much ambient music. best i can offer would be phaedra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qae7k321nVo) and rubycon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmpxXq3Gx9w) by tangerine dream which I'm confident you've listened to before. i mostly listen to classical, specifically minimalism, which is my favorite genre.
