I think this album is a mastodontic work. Against all trends of the black metal scene, Schammasch impose themselves as a monolith with three distinct works . Many historians album will not exceed 30 minutes, but this beats them all .
There is not a dull moment or decrease in intensity in the composition . This time Schammasch have really created a work of art. Favorite track: I. In Dialogue With Death

Can't think of any, plenty of the stuff here I haven't given a fair chance (sludge and stoner never grabbed me), some by bands I've heard a little from but it never sparked my interest to hear more (Goatwhore, Walknut, Ghost, Inquisition, Dragon), , one by a band that piqued my interest but I never followed through with (Turbo), and one by a band who has an album I like but the specific album posted I haven't listened to (Heathen)

An especially insulting one. The fact that Carcass released a new album is a disgrace considering the band should've been done after Swansong, their career would've ended on a bad note but at least there'd be a sense of completion most bands never get to achieve, if Bill Steer and Jeff Walker wanted to start a new project that tries churning out Heartwork over and over it wouldn't feel so tasteless but at this point Carcass is a brand name, making a new project wouldn't bring in as much cash as it would with the Carcass™ logo attached. However the real kicker comes from how they marketed, they tried pretending like it would appeal to fans of old and new Carcass when all they did was stick to the Heartwork formula of playing stadium rock dressed up as death metal that integral tp killing death metal in the 90's while only keeping the gory lyrics of their early work (and throwing in an awful song like Thrasher's Abbatoir to try and appeal to elitists). This was a shameless cash grab and nothing else, a shame because Symphonies is damn near a 10 and Reek is a solid 8.

I think so, too. But that doesn't mean the music Burzum creates is bad. The general consensus at least from what I've seen is that most of the bands that came after him saw the wrong things in his music and took the wrong influences and made something so distant from its original origin that it's something entirely different, in that way Burzum influenced the contemporary BM scene in a very negative way.
