I didn't know when I made it that contrarian means the album is considered shit. Since this is the case, wouldn't it actually make more sense then to put contrarian before pleb? It really doesn't make sense to me since I would assume that the one that means the album is bad (or just generally agreed to be) would be at the far left, and that it would go from there up into pleb.

I was never really into NIN when I was younger. Being an edgy Marilyn Manson fan I was disappointed at the lack of SICK RIFFS when I played TDS. I rediscovered them about a year and a half ago and they quickly became my favorite band, even though I listen to more "true" industrial bands like Coil and Einsturzende Neubaten.
I consider Year Zero almost on par with TDS and The Fragile. The overarching concept, to me, makes up for the similar production values on individual songs.
As far as favorite cuts off the Fragile, I'd go with Somewhat Damaged (dat 9/8 time signature), Even Deeper, The Wretched, and The Great Below. Also I have a soft spot for the heavy songs like No You Don't and Starfuckers Inc.
If you wanna listen to more industrial stuff I'd recommend Clock DVA and God. Techno Animal and Saul Williams do some cool industrial Hip Hop, and I've just recently got into Neofolk with Rome.
