Powerslave has a higher score than both Blackwater Park and Lateralus, but is placed lower on the list, and Aenima has a slightly higher score than Lateralus, but is number 11 for some reason instead of 9, so it can't be based on the score. It can't be the number of ratings and reviews either, because Blackwater Park has a higher score and 2000 fewer ratings and 200 fewer reviews than Lateralus and is higher, but Powerslave has 3000 fewer ratings than Aenima and roughly 200 fewer reviews and is higher than it, but lower than Lateralus, despite Lateralus and Aenima having roughly the same score and number of ratings and reviews. I actually love that stuff, Deicide's s/t is one of my favorite death metal albums. Left Hand Path just seems soulless for some reason, like just mushy. The first track is cool and then the entire rest of the album is pretty good I guess, but nothing amazing. Not to meme too hard, but Dismember did it better.

I'd say there were gothic influences. I remember seeing in an interview once that they more or less admitted to plagiarizing Disintegration riffs on DoDS, not to mention some very post-punky drum patterns and gothic keyboards on it as well. BMD is a bit of a harder sell but that at least has a shoegaze influence which isn't THAT removed from goth in spots - I read the liner notes for BMD once and they said they were listening to Slowdive at the time. And then there's the interim stuff where they had one foot in the classic direction and another in thinking forward, resulting in Scarlet Heavens almost being evocative of their 3rd album before just scrapping the idea. I'd say that kind of influence has been in their sound from the start.
