Theory autists!!! I need your help.
I'm looking at a chord sheet and it gives me this
Ab/C
How do I interpret this? Is it a major, minor, or dominant tonality? I get the /C part but just Ab is so vague. I don't know what to make of it.
Ab traid over C, so basically an Ab major triad in first inversion
Ab
Eb
C

Ab major with C in the bass. Just put C as the first note then an Ab chord
The / means "Chord"/
"Bass note"
>>65064000
Play the Ab major chord, with the C as the root
also called a first inversion
>>65064000
Ab - Ab major
ab - Ab minor
Ab7- Ab dominant seventh

Thanks for the help friendo

Wait never mind, I'm confusing lead sheet and roman numeral notations
Abm would be Ab minor.
>>65064033
Technically this is incorrect. Even though C is in the bass, it should have a normal Ab chord over the top. But it serves the same purpose regardless.

my pal doubling the 3 is about the grossest thing you can do !!!
>>65064099
I kniow, you can leave the three out. Like how jazz pianists always just leave the fifth out.
