I admit to not really liking 'true' emo, the vocals are just not my cup of tea. But I don't know much else on the poppier side that isn't essentially just garbage pop punk. The closest thing I can think of is Pinkerton, but that's nowhere near as well-written imo.

That merger of powerviolence with screamo and that whole post-modernist outlook was really what made them a distinct and important band in their own time
