Well USB3 has made firewire pretty much pointless. Even USB2 is enough for most light to medium use cases.

I wanted to go for a Zoom/Roland/Tascam portable recorder but my budget doesn't allow it yet.
I mainly fuck around with virtual cables, grain synthesis, granulator. Now I want to introduce guitar pickups, DIY mic capsules, pedals, so I need a way to put all those things on my PC.
