any kind of metal with really screamy vocals is unlistenable. this includes pantera and slipknot, plus any "core" bands (metalcore, deathcore, etc) and thrash metal bands on the more extreme side (metallica, megadeth and the like are alright). rap music (even eminem) is also intolerable (i'm white. don't know if that matters), especially ICP and their whole subgenre of what the fuck ever you call that shit. nu metal is ass. the red hot chili peppers are annoying as shit and i don't understand their appeal. queen is overrated and bohemian rhapsody is the most overplayed and overrated song ever.

Why is this a thing? The purpose of reviewers in the past was to create a sort of consumer catalog because stuff used to cost large amounts of money to actually purchase.
"Okay, so 500 albums have come out in the last year, but it would cost you several thousand dollars to actually be arsed to listen to them all, and a lot of them suck anyways. Here are my recommendations because it is actually worthwhile to have somebody else review them since very few people want to drop the money just to be bored by 90 percent of the material."
But now there is spotify, youtube, and torrenting, so that consumers may actually listen to each of the most relevant albums in a given year. Fantano, from what I garner, will review something and then the vast majority of the people anticipating his reviews have their own opinion of it and are just wringing their hands hoping that Fantano's opinion will comport with theirs. It's fucking retarded. He doesn't listen to anything that any moderate follower of contemporary music wouldn't have listened to already.
If you are going to follow a reviewer, at least follow one that will share and recommend things that you wouldn't immediately find on review aggregator sites or are highly anticipated new things by very popular bands. Even Pierro "shit-taste" Scaruffi is better than Fantano because of unorthodoxies in his musical taste that would lead one to listen to different music than they otherwise would have.

Radiohead is highly overrated, especially on this board. I don't think they are "revolutionary", or "innovative", I think they made a lot of boring music for boring people. Don't get me wrong, some radiohead songs are quite good, but I don't see them as strokes of genius like everyone makes them out to be. Their songwriting in their later albums is pretty awful, and they seem to think it's okay to stretch an idea out 3 minutes longer than it needs to be because of MUH bleeps and MUH ambiance. Ferraro and Blunt are half ass musicians taking advantage of the market for half assed, insincrrr music. Opn put out a lot of good stuff but GOD was pretty meh and hes catering more towards the blunt/ferraro audience. Arca has a lot of potential. His eps are his best work but his albums seem dulled down. I honestly doubt any of them will quit pandering and make a spirit of eden/laughing stock type masterpiece.

In short, the liking of Steely Dan is a fairly reliable litmus test for who one actually is as a human being. Try it yourself. You'll see.
Kendrick Lamar has very little talent, everything that is good about To Pimp A Butterfly (which is his only good album) is clearly because of his producers, his lyrics are juvenile and stupid at worst and decent at best, if the album didn't have really great instrumentals it would never even have been sold

Honestly I think what OPN is doing is the opposite of pandering. If he were pandering he would be putting out more eccojam type stuff, but I think he's just more interested in doing something new. I don't think he's very good at doing what he wants to do these days, though. I think Kanye is an intelligent guy who is pretty forward thinking musically, however his music is pretty shit for the most part, mixing pop synths and hip hop together on albums like Graduation and 808's is an admirable and adventurous idea which I can respect him for, but all of the music on those two records is just god awful, I think for the most part people are more interested in the idea of Kanye's music than the sound of it.
