I think Feral and Staircase are alright, but the problem with TKOL in my opinion is they composed every single songs based on loops or so it seems and it makes the album feel repetitive which is odd on them because all of the other albums have a mixture of different sounds, every song feels has a self contained style. So far LP9 at the very least has two songs that sound nothing alike

You have big epic orchestral pop (pyramid song) and two tracks later this lo fi jazzy guitar ballad (you and whose army). Then the last two tracks are everything in its right place pt 2 followed by fucking clarinets
It's an amazing set of recordings but it just flows like a b-side collection. There were very different sounds on Kid A tracks but they flowed like they were responses to each other (madness of the national anthem followed by the exhaustion of how to disappear completely, followed by rest with treefingers and then the "waking up" feeling of optimistic)

Got into Radiohead in the runup to HTTT as well, had gone through all their previous albums pretty much just in time for it to be released. I got the special edition CD with the fold-out map, still have it on a shelf somewhere.
I still think it's great even if they ought to have trimmed a couple of tracks out though. Saw them live when they were touring for it and got a set of prints of the album art, got them all framed and they're still up in my living room.

Not him but I admit to Amnesiac fucking my shit up when I was getting into the band. All the other albums took me no more than 3 listens to get comfortable with but Amnesiac just would not click for me for a good while. It was the only album of theirs where I actually had to make a conscious effort to find out why I couldn't appreciate it. Turns out that the atmosphere was so thoroughly suited to the dark/night that even now the thought of listening to Amnesiac while the sun's out makes me cringe a little. It's a nighttime record if there ever was one and it took me forever to figure that out.

TKOL was the very first Radiohead album I listened to. This is because I got just swept up enough in /mu/'s hype to give it a try. Turned out to be good so I then checked out their albums in discographical order. Yes, I did go from TKOL immediately into PH. Kinda surprised I didn't self-destruct there.
