you might should listen to byungki hwang, he plays the gayageum which is a Korean zither, so it's sort of similar in timbre to the koto
although there's not much in the way of fancy flute accompaniment or anything, so his stuff is a bit more stark I think
I like his gayageum masterpieces vol 4 the most, but if you want something experimental instead of traditional, try vol 3

the kind of music he plays is called sanjo, which basically just means solo instrument with drums, but it's a perfect intro to korean folk and classical, it's got all the right "korean" melodies and rhythms

that ones shadow, right? honestly it's a very unique song
the only things I can think of that are similar at all are a handful of other f(x) songs and even then they're only similar in that they're unsimilar to most kpop songs

that makes sense, f(x) is pretty unique but they do play with the same toys as everyone else at the end of the day so if you're not into the aesthetics of pop music there's not really any reason to like them
honestly, no, imo the only really aesthetically cohesive album they have is their most recent and that's pretty firmly rooted in dance pop with a minimum of quirk

I think if you're still willing to look into kpop, you'd be better suited listening to that IU album instead, it's got very little to do with dance pop or hip-hop
