I've been a fan of Dinosaur Jr for years and consider them one of my favorite bands, but never listened to anything Lou Barlow did outside of that band. Are Sebadoh worth listening to? Where should I start?

Sebadoh sounds nothing at all like Dinosaur.
IMO Sebadoh's III is better than any Dino album, and I love Dino.

Check them out, they're a criminally underrated band. If you want super fun indie rock then start with Bakesale, if you want something a bit rawer and more experimental then start with Sebadoh III, if you want ultra lofi recordings of bizarre sound collages and a guy doing feelsy folk rock songs then start with The Freed Man.

Are you deaf? They don't sound alike at all.
my opinion could change today but i'm responsible anyway

Bakesale is their most accessible album but Sebadoh III is the best representation of their style. Listen to both albums.
Sebadoh's "III" is my favorite, though Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock is a strong second best. Everything that Sebadoh has done is at least decent. Even their most recent album from 2014 is good.
Bubble & Scrape has some good ones on it too. And the first two acoustic albums are of passing quality, nothing special.
