I could never get into him. His songs are overwrought, unstructured and self-indulgent. Kind of related to my dislike of D'Angelo, Gaye, etc. the multi-instrumental do it all 'auteur' geniuses of black pop, lauded to hell but are rather mediocre, a few tracks excepting. But he's influenced a lot of artists that I like (R Kelly, Danity Kane, etc.) and he's always been entertaining to say the least. Also will probably never get into him since he's not on Spotify.
