Room on Fire isn't bad, just overshadowed by Is This It, can't agree on Hot Fuss or The Killers in general though.

>can't agree on Hot Fuss or The Killers in general though
Anon, I urge you to give Hot Fuss another chance. I too wrote off its non-single deep cuts because I feel for the meme, but I revisited it recently and I really really loved the back half as well. Who knows, you might too.

>I forget about this album for months then get fucked up and listen to it 5 times in a row.
I love this album because it makes me feel like shit and I feel like shit all the time and it acts like catharsis like nothing else not even the shitty nu-emo I listen to all the time and oh god i'm so lonely i'm so lost oh god

IF YOU CAN FIX ME UP GIRL

nah, this album finds that aesthetic quality to sadness and amplifies it x10 while showering you in hope
>>
>>64191581
I'd describe Antics like that 2bh, not TOTBL. TOTBL is straight up self-flagellation-core.
>>
>>64191604
antics is like a step towards that normie-appealing killers sound. but its interpol, so they retain their sound well.

Not even jail, C'mere, public pervert are 10/10 songs
>>
>>64191670
What's so bad about appealing to normies? I mean, Interpol and The Strokes directly led to The National and Arctic Monkeys both of which are normiecore but both bands are actually really good. I don't get this board's weird aversion to accessible music.
>>
>>64191729
its not bad at all. personally, accessibility doesn't bother me, but it seems that a lot of /mu/tants play this game where they only namedrop non-accessible music to be some kind of social patrician.

i love the fact that good music gets attention, but I'm not crushed if it doesn't. ill still enjoy it regardless of its status.

at the end of the day, /mu/ is just sick of overrated shit music (blink-182, david guetta, tay tay, etc...)
>>
>>64191876
blink-182 isn't even overrated any more though. It was back in the day but nowadays no one even talks about this any more. I wish people stopped taking the piss out of Tom, Mark, and co 2bh family :(
>>
I only really love [untitled]

everything else on the album is okay but it doesn't grab me

This an excellent album my dude

YOU'RE LOOKING ALRIGHT TONIIIIGHT
>>
>>64191945
wait it out. take it with you places. whenever you do something cool, listen to it around the same time. its bound to click
>>
>>64191945
Listen to it on a misty, spring night in a well-lit area like your city's downtown when you're feeling a bit under the weather. It'll click.

No other album comes close to the detached in a crowded place vibe like this one does.
>>
>>64191945

>>64191922
ok, no, people will always prefer blink-182 to other good punk. they're 'legends'

nobody talks about them on music boards because people who pursue quality music nowadays think they suck

there should be a list of unmentionable bands for /mu/
>>
>>64192083
blink-182 is one of my favourite bands ever i will defend them to the death i don't care what some nerds on a Tibetan shadow puppet board say
>>
>>64192149
nice hop along reference.

hop along > blink-182
>>
>>64192212
without blink all the hip post-pop punk band p4k slobbers over would not exist.
>>
>HER STORIES ARE BORING AND STUFF

Eh, aside from the lyrics, it's a good one.
>>
>>64192227
as if "I FELL IN LOVE WITH A GIRL AT THE ROCK SHOW, SHES SO COOL..." is meritable. thats the gist of ever blink song.

post pop punk is not a thing, unless you're referring to the sonic cancer of bands such as icon for hire and falling in reverse. i guess ian cohen thinks its a thing, but he only believes that because he thinks he discovered nu-emo and all that shit b4 anyone else
>>
>>64192252
I just substitute "boring as fuck" when he sings that. Sounds similar enough.

>>64192317
Come now, anon. No one is denying they made teenager-core but to discount their entire discography because of a song the label made them write? Their self titled is fucking great; it's all The Cure worship and pretty well done for a pop punk band.
>>
>>64192355
>but anon, teenager core is good

dude, ive listened to the first one all the way through. i will say travis barker is a beast, but thats it.
>>
>>64192411
First one what? First album? As in Cheshire Cat? Buddha? Flyswatter?

idk man I just think it's dumb to write off an entire band because of one era. I think it's pretty close minded, but that's just me. It's alright to dislike a band imo, but when you start talking about objectivity is where you lose me.

Anyway, this thread isn't about them. It's about Interpol

W-what? Anon, OLTA is my second favourite Interpol album after TOTBL.

TOTBL: 10
Antics: 8.5
OLTA: 9
s/t: 6
El Pintor: 8

imho tbqh
>>
>>64192227
Nah bruh. It's not like AFI, New Found Glory, NOFX and Alkaline Trio weren't around at the same time playing similar music. Green Day predates all of them. Bad Religion was around in the early 80s. Blink 182 didn't invent pop punk.
>>
>>64194732
my bad, read that wrong lmao
the post still applies to anyone who disregards OLTA though

Any expectations for their next album? El Pintor was fucking great, loved the guitar playing. It was their most unorthodox and angular to date.
>>
>>64194746
Definitely agree. You'll find a lot of younger fans completely disregard bands like Green Day, Offspring, Alk3, etc in favour of blink and NFG and I always try to correct them. But you really can't deny blink's influence on the current pop punk/nu-emo scene.

>>64194768
Have they announced a new album? Either way, my expectations are just keep doing what they've always done. Their s/t was a bit of an aberration but El Pintor was a great return to form. Sounded like a mix of TOTBL and OLTA. Not as good as either, but still awesome. I loved how energetic it was compared to s/t.

Thankfully these guys have never fallen off a cliff like The Strokes and Bloc Party did. And I hope that trend continues with their next album, whenever that may be.
