Hey guys, trying to have a nice thread here. Post an album, that's not /mu/core, neither /mu/ talks about, but you wish more people get to know it because you think is fucking amazing (something like a rec you'd give to a good friend). Also, post its genre. I'll start
>avant-folk
avant-folk is not a genre my friend
great album tho
That's the only David Thomas Broughton album I've actually listened to. I've been meaning to change that but I'm just too lazy. I did pick up his latest release though so I should probably check that out soon.

>>64134391
post something, pals
I wish more people listened to pic related, one of my favorite IDM records
>>64134220
fantastic album
i dont want /mu/ to like the albums i like
my favorite album (age of adz) is already a meme, why would i want that to happen to other things i like
>>64135034
age of adz is shit
>>64134220
i love this album. his new one is really long though and not sure what to make of it on first listen
>>64135034
>i dont want /mu/ to like the albums i like
dude, you don't have to be a special snowflake. The point of the thread is not turning something into a meme, it's sharing some 'unknown' records that you love. Get a grip
>>64135002
Hey, I'm starting to get into IDM, I will check this out. Thanks for sharing
This will be remembered as one of the greatest folk albums of this decade and /mu/ sleeps on it
This shit is too fun
>>64135194
i fucking love this album <3
It's my favourite math rock album ever but it's not even on that massive math rock chart someone on here made.
Windy & Carl-depths
>ambient, space rock
i know how much /mu/ loves cozy lo-fi folk but i can never get anyone to listen to this on here
>>64135194
>>64134220
in the mood for folk so will check both of these out
>>64135217
nice cover, might look into it later
>>64135355
Right on, Ichiko Aoba is fantastic and this one (the live version) is even better than the studio version
>>64134220
T H I S
first album to make me legitimately cry.
Dub, instrumental, tropical, hip-hop sort of
>Folk drone
>>64134220
This is definitely neo-mu-core
>>64135437
It's so fucking good yet I've never seen it posted before
Has she released anything good recently? I haven't been keeping up with her
>>64135796
>>64135355

Should I just listen to this live album or start with the pink one (zero) ?
>>64135946
if you're in the mood for some maximum comfy then definitely 0% (live version)
>>64136228
i'll do it. thx senpai
>>64135217
One of my favorite albums of that year. Was pretty excited when they just started releasing new stuff, but it's a little u whelping so far to be honest.
>>64136257
np familia only happy to help
>>64135526
I'll bite
my pick: Klaus Mitffoch - s/t; Polish post-punk, coldwave, experimental rock, incredible poetic lyrics, widely recognized as the best Polish rock album ever made, 1985, is in the archive
>>64136257
if you feel intimidated by the 12 minute long intro track then feel free to skip it since it doesn't take away from the album, with that said enjoy anon
people have been talking a lot about it recently here on /mu/, but still is pretty underrated
>indie pop
>good production with a touch of jazz and bossa nova
TAKES A STRONG STRONG, BREAKS A STRONG STROOONG MIIIIINNDDD
>>64134220
Great album btw OP

no problem, all the archive links are dead and jap albums in general are a fucking pain to find
It wouldn't surprise me to see a lot of discussion about this record.
Also, I just listened to Han Dynasty (by the same people). Great record as well, completely unexpected

generally I wish Eels got more attention on /mu/, I think this whole album is wonderful
>>64134220
i feel like I'm being viraled with this album
bump this is a good thread and its being drowned in the sea of memes that is /mu/
>>64141937
very good album
>>64143196
ikr
>>64135002
solid stuff
I've shown this album to many friends who say that they hate country. After listening, some still held their opinion, but others did see what good albums the genre can offer
Don't even know the genre, everyone seems to think they are something different.
Honestly my favorite chill music, 10/10 worth a listen
keep this thread alive por favor
pic related is a wonderful album, best described as a midi-based indie pop/rock with a kitschy muzak/lounge feel and dreary vocals with cryptically disassociative computer-age lyrics
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIZ_fEA6J4Q
This shit right here familia
>>64134220
I swear it feels like the Soundtracks For the Blind of vaporwave.
i would be happy if /mu/ didn't mostly listen to english/american musicians, but then again this is an english speaking music forum so...
I can count the amount of times I've seen Fela Kuti talked about here on one hand. Don't you like funk /mu/? Don't you like to get down?
>>64135217
Fix My Life is my fucking jam
>>64146205
Even though I like funk and jazz, I couldn't really feel his music. I'll try again later.
>>64137523
this is great
Archive in general around here.
I mean, I can kinda understand why as they may be too "pop" for /mu/ and they don't really have a genre despite their constant style shifts. The closet you can get is progressive rock but even that doesn't fit at all. If so they'd be the most un-prog prog band ever.
>>64147287
Also
>technically a collective
>not popular in UK or the States
>4 vocalists
>>64144298
Holy shit this album is nuts. 11/10 easily
---
I kinda like this album. Telepath collabs are always amazing.
Idc if you like metal or not, this album is gold.
>>64135194
where can i get a download link for this. Its fucking phenomenal

>>64147287
Love YALTSTM. Once had a very nice discussion about Archive with an anon on here. Great band.
Or any Cranes album that's not Population 4 or Forever, really. The former because it's the band's one honest misstep and the latter because everyone who likes dream pop/shoegaze has already listened to it. Curiously, I never see anyone mention their electronic rock stuff. It's damn solid stuff.
Currently one of my fav albums. Wanna hear what you guys think about this
I have never seen this album or band on /mu/ before, and I fucking love this album. My personal favorite punk album ever
Tha Grimm Teachaz - There's A Situation On The Homefront
Rappers from 2010 pretend to be rappers from the 90s and it's generally fantastic. Probably my favourite hiphop record.
The Durutti Column's LC. Fucking masterpiece that no one I know has heard of.
>>64154926
I've heard it anon.
It's fucking great.
>>64154926
It's really good but not even close to obscure
>>64154926
messidor is amazing.
nice choice senpai
I posted Buena Vista Social Club, even made a thread about it ,but people didn't care. You don't know what you're missing,it's the soundtrack to a perfect summer.
Seen this mentioned on /mu/ a few times, but really deserves more praise.

The December Sound: The Silver Album (shoegaze)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBXNLPIxby8
Magnog - s/t
An incredibly underrated second wave post-rock release by a bunch of space rock kids who accidentally jumped on board the post-rock train.
Dax Riggs: We Sing of Only Blood or Love (also If This Is Hell Then I'm Lucky is good, even better in fact)
I DIDN'T WANT TO HURT YOU
WOOOAAAAAHHHH YEAHHHHHH

I've briefly listened to this. It's sort of post-punk, right? I gave it a shot but the lead singer's voice was too off-putting.

on a related note, Fennesz
>>64155655
He was more popular on here when 151a came out. I was really excited when I found him because we're from the same city. He's done a few really small, intimate shows which is cool because he normally only plays in bigger cities. The label he's on (Joyful Noise) had a bunch of artists that were big on here a few years ago when indie rock was all the rage (Of Montreal, St. Vincent)
