When did you realize that modern music is inherently inferior and that Classical will always be the pinnacle of music as an art form?

I've always considered classical music to be art and what I listened was not. It's only after actually trying to discover the genre that I've realized its astronomical height above modern music. But there's still art music being made constantly so your term should be consumerized songs.
>>
There isn't classical vs popular music, it's unmarketable vs marketable music

classical fans are universally 16 year old virgin neckbeards or old men with one foot in the grave

there are no exceptions to this rule

>>
>>64070769
Okay, a lot of people don't seem to understand why classical music sounds the way it does vs our modern popular music, its really quite simple

European care mainly about harmony
Asians care mainly about melody
Africans care about rhythm first and foremost

So as American music was basically a mash up of Euro and Afro ideas, it makes sense that its evolution followed the harmonic path for a while but is now evolving on a rhythmic level.

So anyone who hates all modern music and considers it backtracking, you need to listen to some of the insane rhythms around today that Mozart never would have thought of in a million years

It's a waste of time in your own life's context. Not on mine, where I've been playing music since age 2 and got a good 70% of my education paid for through music and music only. Music fanatic doesn't equate to a good musician. Nothing replaces a good teacher either. All tools of the trade tried and tested through out the centuries. George Stones Early 1900s publication stick control says this exact thing on page one.
Not to mention the amount of like minded and talented musicians I get to hang out with and do drugs and play music with on the daily. Much better than sitting in a room isolated listening to all the music in the world.

How many good players changed music, are rembebered in history and praised compared to composer´s and even the great players were also composers and are more rembered for their creations than their technique Chopin, Lizst, Rachmaminov, etc. Also creating is much more fulfilling than playing someone else´s music. Music is a form of expression and you´re playing something that´s someone else´s expression lol.

art can be looked at on a subjective and objective level

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGva1NVWRXk

This piece is objectively the absolute cutting edge in music, those wave effects are super super difficult to notate nonetheless play.

But, if you try to listen to this piece a lot of people will just be like wow one chord for an hour thats boring as fuck.

The objective merit of art can be set ever if it can be enjoyed or not subjectively on a personal level

I love classical music too and I think that playing an instrument is amazing too but damn, you sound like a fedora. If someone asks you why you take the class tell then that it's what you have a love for and hope to seek a job in. Don't have a pissing contest where you go "Nah, Nah. I'm better than you." Think to yourself "What would Reddit do?" And do the opposite of that.
>>
I personally think most "classical music" ensembles sound lame, and flat. I mean who had the idea that we should restrict ourselves to chorus, bowed strings, brass and wind instruments, and group percussion.

Why shouldn't a percussion section consist of one man and a trap set?
Why shouldn't anybody in the ensamble use electronic amplification and distortion to shape their sound?
why is there no visual element to the vast majority of so called "classical" pieces?

And for the love of Jesus why should the audience sit dead silent during the whole performance and only show appreciation between sets for only a minute or two. Classical music is fucking lame if you cant even stand at a show. is everybody supposed to appreciate it the proper way by falling asleep in their chairs?

Why the fuck would you recommend Liszt.
Liszt of all composers.

I went through this phase too.
You'll realise eventually that Bach and Beethoven are practically unrivalled in the history of music.
The early 20th century is still my favourite period of Classical music, but I don't deny that Bach and Beethoven were the greatest ever.

Modern (actually contemporary) classical music will always be the pinnacle of music.
Anyone who disagrees is the aesthetic version of a luddite or worse, a reactionary.

let them shittalk. Do what you love nad not everything in life has to be minmaxed financially.

Im a stemfag myself and the life of a music major is so fucking different. Yeah i may be more secured in terms of finance, but you'll likely have more fun performing and just really doing what you love.

Those people are just jelly. Fuck them

Actually concerts killed music.

Music was better when it was performed for holy events/days/people, not for public entertainment.

Classical music was usually only for the wealthy upperclass or the very small middleclass who could afford it. Majority of the population enjoyed very simple folk music at the local taverna or pub, not alot different from what we listen to today in terms of complexity or themes.

Strange how little things actually have changed since it's pretty much the same today.

Depends how far you consider to be modern, the bulk of the music I prefer to listen to follows from Wagner, and so can be considered quite modern.

Or anyone with reasonable training, comprehension and/or appreciation of music as a discipline.
