One of my friends listens almost exclusively to pop, but he grew to like jazz over time. There's a jazz café in my town and it's quite popular, even though it's in a relatively small town. There's live music every Wednesday night and I think that place got a considerable amount of people interested in jazz. Those people keep coming back, so I guess it worked.
