I'm a poorfag who bought a shitty but playable Squier. It is annoying when that guitar goes out of tune every 20 minutes, but I bought it for 50 bucks and it has a decent sound.
When I will have a bit of money in the future, I plan to buy an entry-level Fender, and desu I think it's a bit stupid to blow 2000 bucks on a guitar that might get stolen or damaged by god knows what.
And, hell, Roy Montgomery plays shitty Sears and Teisco guitars with necks made of plywood. Same with Polvo in the 90s. And they made music way better than any of us ever did with those.

my moms ex bought me a used jackson i still play, idk what model it is im not a gear head, its missing a washer on the high e string tuning key as well, my friend plays a 90s warlock and a new epiphone rickenbacker remake. we play in drop E tuning and mostly play crust covers of doom, ENT, and sore throat with a little motorhead/midnight type sound as well
If a guitar is costing you over $1500, there are better options.
Also $1000 isn't really that much. Any other high quality instrument, violin, cellos, whatever, will cost you around $10000.
