I fixed it.

>>63514814
Where do you suggest I add glam rock? Probably under proto-punk right?
>>
>>63514790
>le I saw WL/WH tagged as noise rock on RYM, which makes me an expert on the genre's timeline

no
noise rock didn't become a proper fully formed thing until touch & go and amphetamine reptile(and arguably sub pop) built up their rosters in the late 80s/early 90s

Stupid image rotated, sorry for being a filthy mobile poster. Hopefully this one will be easier to see.
>>
>>63514857
God dammit, it's still rotated. Guess we'll just have to deal with that then.

>>63514854
So I was right to begin with? I think I agree more with you. Trip users are a sketchy bunch.
>>
>>63514772
5/10

Noise Rock is mostly mid/late 80's. As is post-hardcore. You could make a one in between post hardcore and emo called emotive hardcore since traditional emotive hardcore is more punk than emo really. Also Screamo did not evolve from metalcore, quite the contrary. early screamolike albums like Indian Summer almost had no similarities to metal in general.

>>63514875
noise rock starts in the 80s, think about butthole surfers, swans, breaking circus, big black, pixies, sonic youth
>>
>>63514857
>>63514841
>>63514875

>>63514894
Basically it starts before/with hardcore (I don't really know hardcore)
>>
>>63514894
>>63514902
it started off as an offshoot of hardcore for the most part(not taking into account anomalous non-US bands like skullflower and zeni geva, maybe even godflesh)
touch & go records, which is essentially THE noise rock label, started out putting out records by hardcore bands like negative approach and necros before finding underground fame as the home of bands like big black, the jesus lizard, butthole surfers, laughing hyenas etc.
>>
>>63514891
Also screamo is a 90's genre. Not a 2000's genre

>tfw solo bedroom projects on bandcamp
>tfw I should work on that
>>
>>63514946
its prime was like 98-04
>>
>>63514894
>>63514902
>>63514943
Agreed. I'll keep noise rock where I changed it to then, as an offshoot of hardcore.

>>63514891
Thanks for the feedback. I fixed the noise rock thing, and the emo category on the timeline actually refers to emotive hardcore. And I didn't necessarily mean that screamo "evolved" from metalcore; there are just a lot of screamo bands with metalcore influence like I Have Dreams or Saetia.
>>
>>63514946
I said 90s and early 2000s, not just 2000s
>>
>>63514979
fuck off frogposter
>>
>>63515033
Emotive Hardcore is mid/late 80s too by the way. (Embrace, Rites of Spring, One Last Wish etc.)
>>
>>63514854
even if you ignore TVU's influence, the no wave scene was an integral part of the creation of noise rock and that started late 70s

but it did't really gain ground til the mid 80s, i'll give you that
>>
>>63515082
I'll fix it when I make a 2.0 version, there's no room for me to fix it right now.
>>
christ why does /mu/ have so many emofags
>>
>>63515088
no it wasn't

Sonic Youth is not noise rock

TVU is not noise rock

art school nerds in late 70s nyc making noise/drone/etc with guitars is not noise rock
>>
>>63515143
I can't tell if you're some retard migrant from another board who has no idea what emo is or if your shit opinion is informed

not even sure which would be worse desu
>>
>>63515181
hey, be nice! >:(
>>
>>63515168
okay cool so you have no idea what noise rock is

lmao
>>
>>63514772
Protip: electronic music started like 60 years before your chart does. And there's really no reason it should be considered anything near punk.
>>
>>63515215
noise rock is punk music

noise rock has always been punk music

again, noise music made with guitar =/= noise rock
>>
>>63515143
>christ why does /mu/ have so many genrefags
fixed

genre nerds are the worst
>>
>>63515168
>>63515215
Hey, cool your jets everyone. I only put noise rock as a derivative form of post-hardcore because of bands like Big Black, who were a noise rock band but could also be categorized as post-hardcore. But I fixed it anyway so you rascals can quit your petty arguments.
>>
>>63515233
I think he was trying to imply that was the point where electronic music started influencing punk, which still doesn't make sense because that would have happened with new wave and post-punk
>>
>>63515021
Not really, NYC screamo was going on a good four/five years before that.
>>
>>63515234
and no wave and noise fest led directly to live skull organizing the speed trials

but let me guess you think live skull isn't noise rock??
>>
>>63514894
Noise rock started in the late 60's.
