I have become addicted to making shitty home recordings using a USB mic and a personal collection of musical items
>>
buy an audio interface and then make some not so shitty recordings
>>
nice. i hope you get better at it and release something for people to enjoy
>>
>>63438177
Fuck that, man
I like the lo fi element it adds to it
>>63438180
Would you care to listen to something I created?

usb is like the bad kind of lo fi, might as well get a tape recorder and go all the way
>>
>>63438160
you say that like its a bad thing
>>
>>63438226
not bad, keep doing what makes you happy
>>
This is a strangely positive thread. I'm not sure how I feel about it.
>>
>>63438160
Use multiple USB Mics/recording devices and let any variances between the mics' sounds be part of your finished product.
>>
>>63438408
Yeah it is
I guess I feel excited for something now
>>
>>63438226
thats actually pretty good. wasn't expecting all the instruments to come in at the end
>>
>>63438408
i'm drunk as fuck so that might have something to do with it
>>
>>63438226
that was a nice surprise anon
>>
>>63438632
i wish i could be drunk. i hope you enjoy your drunkidness.
>>
>>63438160
I've made 40 albums doing literally nothing but this. Haven't sold any of them, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun.
>>
I'd do a split with you.
>>
>>63438754
Dude I have so many unfinished tracks it's unreal
Post something of yours!
>>
>>63438226
this is actually really good. that beat drop was amazing. keep at it man

I'll let you know now, this is mainly noise, inside jokes, and general bullshit.
>>

What's a good cheap one?
>>
I made my second album recording everything through a guitar amp into my microphone output on the my PC, My recordings actually suffered when I got a proper audio interface, and it took a long time to bounce back and adjust to recording in high fidelity.
>>
>>63438895
look for a used Tascam Portastudio, or a Yamaha 4 track if you want an even cheaper one
>>
>>63438982
Why is this shit so expensive? It's outdated recording technology, you'd think it'd be 50 or less to grab something used in good condition.
>>
>>63439026
Hipster cred, and nobody's making more of them. Trying to find them locally would be your best bet, I got mine from a small town buy and sell. Reel to Reels are even cheaper if you can find them.

Alternately, I made my little sister a cheap recording setup using 2 tape decks with a karaoke machine in between them. What you'd do is record from the Kareoke machine into one tape deck, then play that tape in the second while recording with another tape and overdubbing with the Karaoke mike. It's lo fi, but you can find all sorts of stuff like this at thrift store and garage sales for next to nothing, not as good as a tascam, but it's good fun, and perfectly good for low fidelity recordings.

Also, graphic EQs and other 70s stereo acessories can be found for next to nothing, and are invaluable in a recording setup. I used to feed computer recordings through old stereo equipment, back into the computer to give the song a unique sound and add a little grime and compression.

>>
>>63438874
The second one it's a good riff
The last one...ambient music? I dig the atmosphere, what instrumental did you use there? Guitars,Keyboards, if so what kind of effects? Be as much descriptive as you can I am really interested
>>
>>63439266
Except you didn't post yfw, moron
>>
>>63439353
Dude what the actual fuck
This is visualy and audibly amazing
>>
>>63438226
You sound really, really, really upper middle class, and pretentious, it's very offputting. It's okay I guess. Try and bury your accent a bit and hold back on the way you over enunciate words; control the inflection in your voice.
>>
>>63439430
Dude I live in NW Ontario
In the woods
>>
>>63439470
Oh that's why, you're Canadian, you all sound like that, you're excused.
>>
>>63439470
Only advice I would give, if you're doing spoken word stuff, don't linger too long when you enunciate a word, good spoken word inspiration would be Spiderland, and some of Sun Kil Moon's recent stuff like Benji and Universal themes. Your accent is really heavy and noticeable, just try and tone it down a bit.
>>
>>63438160
Post 'em on Soundcloud or Bandcamp, you might end up being the next Daniel Johnston.
>>
How do I tape the drums without the drums. I mean me and friend of mine use to jam with me on the guitar and him on a drum program that emulates a real drum set and it seems work fine but we dont know a way to tape the drum track in a midi to use it on a full track
>>
>>63439376
I used 1 guitar with 2 delay pedals and a reverb pedal. All digital amps and digital pedals though with guitar rig 5. Also used a loop pedal on guitar rig 5.
>>
>>63438408
I, too, am confused when I see anything remotely kind on this board.
>>
>>63439574
Hahahaha I used a dirty trick
I run an electronic set directly into my desktop
>>
>>63439430

>You sound really, really, really upper middle class, and pretentious

No he does not, and there's nothing inherently wrong with having such an accent.
>>
>>63439596
I don't get it. Can you explain in details ?
>>
>>63439609
I think having an overly refined accent dulls a recording, I cannot think of one truly great album that has vocals that sound affected and so clean cut.
>>
>>63439678
You know the Yamaha electronic drum kits? Use a quarter inch adapter and an aux cord alongside a piece of recording software to record directly into a computer
>>
>>63439574
Send the output of the drums while they are playing to a track that is recording them.
