The songs i enjoy the most from ulcerate are omens and destroyers.., I can feel them the most. Burning has cool drums that start off and it sounds kinda epic but nothing much else after, riffs and dynamics loose intensity, but i like how it resolves in the end.
The other songs in this album are kinda forgettable.
Their other albums are forgettable compared to this.
SO with that said I think I will delete everything except for those two tracks. But then maybe I should just delete all of it, whats the point of keeping two tracks when you have plenty of other music? Or maybe I could show this to a friend of mine who might need some drumming ideas?? What do you guys think?

Brewed out of a postmodern accident, metal is certainly neck deep in its heaps of abortions over the years, having had roots in culture-killing propaganda that is Rock and Blues ‘music’. Most are unfathomably off-target, comically inept and irredeemably hopeless on a serious, creative level with infantile sing-a-long choruses and blind aggression but of course, there can only be one nadir. And since incompetence is so common (and expected) with the human experience, its harmlessness on a wider scale can be assimilated. However, when something so virally corrupt and intellectually dishonest aspires to be transcendental and artistically vital (in some circles, even laughably lauded as some kind of apex in achievement), then its loathsome existence can no more be denied nor forgiven. This four-piece bastion of filth is Burzum’s Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and since it feigns the hardest to be great, it falls equally as hard and consequently, its failure is nothing short of a historic phenomenon.
To understand the appeal of this abomination begins (and ends) at understanding how it deceives its inexperienced and misinformed audience. Supporters claim of its ‘maturity’ and ‘sophistication’ over its peers in conventional metal through its supposed ‘musical depth,’ ‘narrative structure’ and ‘profound content,’ all if which are preposterous since fundamentally at its nexus, Hvis… is no different. Like all rock music, most of the attention here is on aesthetic, aiming to depict the lamenting of a ‘tortured soul,’ sparking the initial point of disaster. Vikernes gives the single most embarrassingly humanist vocal performance in the genre with shamelessly juvenile, erratic cries of a solipsistic coward in exposition of mental and spiritual sickness within a helplessly mortal host, squawking away naively in self-fellatio like a deluded slave of society.

Instruments are produced with flexibility in timbre but abused to exploit a false pretense of ‘organic’ texture, which without actual content to enhance exoterically, is wasted excrement. Together, they are driven egoistically onwards by the lowest of sensual hunger. Compositionally, Hvis… lies exceptionally uninspired. In spite of excuses abound, the truth is that holistically, it is not committed enough to be minimalist, nor melodically spellbinding enough to be trance-inducing. Appropriately in line with its deceitful character, “Det Som Engang Var” actually starts off rather respectable with the chiming of a doom progression in delineation of tragedy. However, any and all potential is swiftly eradicated the moment its infamously worthless opening riff enters, full on with rigidly boxed-in rhythmic expectation, syncopated flagrantly like the most mindless of de-based entertainment in its cycled, simian grooves. Replicated via endless spamming, this sample attempts to mesh with a most clichéd tritone as a poor excuse for a motif, which itself never undergoes any growth or changes throughout except a measly reprise in reverberation. In place of actual progression and unfolding narrative is an illusion of alternating 2-3 hollow layers over the same bouncy, dead-ended riff pattern.

Continuing the temper tantrum is the title track, representing the album’s ‘height of tension’. Consisting of basic minor-2nd chromatic noodling, 8 minutes of constant back-and-forth shifting between intervals of a 5th (with a call-and-response center of FCC# - FGG#F#) builds into a rage climax of impotent rap-barking. Once more, there is no real evolution of the germ cell in display outside of minor embellishments and what persists is a stagnant, pathless circle-jerking into self-pity. ‘Tension’ grinds on without remorse or salvation into “Inn i slottet fra drommen,” dressing up the culmination of fantasy in powerless frustration and fear with a pretty but inconsequential melodic hook in its ‘release,’ which like the opener, fades out unabashedly right in the middle of the material, proving that a thoughtful conclusion is again, beyond the capabilities of this genius ‘composer.’
The first 6+ minutes of “Tomhet” is a textbook debacle in minimalism. Spiritless subjects are closed melodically (F major triad with up and down major seconds), leaving absolutely nothing to the imagination and all that is left, lifeless matter. Then evidenced in the second half, Vikernes shows no respect to listeners in filling in spaces of “Emptiness” with their own thoughts but would rather patronize with spoon-fed, superfluous emotions out of a children’s lullaby to appease one’s ‘conscience.’ Despite all its philosophical posturing, “Tomhet” does not aim for one iota of objectivity in its obvious subjective exploitation to self-defeatism. It is a false eulogy to any greater power since there is not a shred of detached humility outside of the most sensuous of sentimental needs and entitlement. It opts not for a call to refinement but instead, a passage to guilt.

And it is precisely this, the destination of his diseased self-fantasy, that this album is not only the single most philosophically destructive work in metal but also is by its own definition, anti-metal. If metal is connoted as a warrior’s spiritual strength to persevere in reality, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss advocates a deviated, self-loathing retreat into vanity, a viral mindset that any self-respecting human would view as pathetic and any self-respecting male as emasculating. Coupled with its single-minded and simple-minded vision, Vikernes offers no paradox, genuine spiritual nourishment or esoteric timelessness in this stiff exhibition of an untermensch.
Only through self-cultivating faith and work can “What Once Was” become “What Will Be,” rather than “What Never Was.”

Death metal and Melodeath had to be split because the Melodeath scene there is different enough from regular Death metal and large enough to warrant another section, as well as being a prominent scene there.
Power metal's their largest scene by far and there's enough of a distinction between the early scene (80s-90s) and the modern scene (00s-10s), both of which spawned a large amount of notable bands.

Well first, you have to know how to not be an awful writer. Vary sentence structures, have a clear voice, have a clear flow and structure to your review. You also need some kind of unifying theme to the thing. It doesn't do any good to just go through every instrument like a checklist. Say why the album works on a whole.
The problem with track by track reviews is that they almost always go something like this:
1. Wow, nice open riff! Super cool! 10/10
2. Too slow and boring. Don't like it. 4/10
3. Another fast song with good riffs!! 10/10
4. Boring ballad, skip this track. 0/10.
