Between how much I enjoy finding new bands, combined the the number that are actually good and have decent recording qualities, how many bands only have 1 EP with 4 or 5 songs, how niche the genre is, and how much time it takes for people to put bands together, write music, and record it I fear one day I'll have listened to everything I want to and that is a very sad and scary feeling

Waterbury resident here. Cam left CT last year for Philly. They supposedly had a house show at Wesleyan in middletown but the fb event page mysteriously popped up, it was with two other weird unknown bands, at 10:30pm start time, and suposedly student only
literally everyone left CT or quit emo. sorority noise's old drummer is in some weird indie band but its hard to categorize

and secondly, it's a misconception that the emo spirit is all about being a loser. it CAN be, but the feeling is more than that. emoness is what happens when, regardless of situation, you still find yourself unable to be happy. even if you have friends, "success," good taste, etc, you still feel empty. in fact, the most emo thing you could do is be in a successful emo band and STILL hate yourself. that's the whole point. emo becomes a subculture as people try to use the scene to feel like they have a place and fulfilment- but they still fail
