Is someone forcing you to respond? If I was wrong, you would all just ignore me and it would be obvious I was wrong as my post sat in the middle of a bunch of others about music. Instead, you all know you spend more time looking at gear than playing or learning because you know that deep down, you don't love guiar as much as you want to believe, you just latched onto it and starting building an identity from it because you're shallow 16-20 year olds with no thoughts inside yourself worth expressing, so you go on shitposting and avoiding the truth.

Maybe post it and strike up a discussion? That would of course only be possible if there were enough others around capable or interested enough in music to bother. Sadly, not the case.

Something actually good. Why the fuck didn't they make a single DSL model with a powersoak ? or hell just copy Mesa's idea of having an EQ as well as three knobs ? There's plenty of things that could have been done, releasing a modelling amp now sounds like they're just trying to cash into a trend, I wouldn't be surprised if it was overpriced.

The best wah is the first run of the Bad Horsie. Fantastic design.

>pic-related, mine which I bought for $50 off a guy clearing out his home studio. Easily one of the best gear finds I've ever had.

I listened to a couple of the Petrucci wah demos and to me it's nothing special. For my money, the best Dunlop wahs are the original Cry Baby and the Jerry Cantrell. The Petrucci wah sounds amazing when Petrucci plays it because he's got a million other things processing his tone between his guitar and amp.

TL;DR there are better wahs out there for a lot less money.

I've played one belonging to an acquaintance of mine at a few bar gigs. Seems like a pretty decent amp, and I know he uses it for recording and solo performances. It has great natural overdrive.

I use an Egnater Rebel 20 head and I love it. Simple as it gets, single channel, and I get all my OD from a pedal. I spent >$300 for it used off eBay, then spent another $160 for a new Fender cab.

So, I'm building a new Strat. This might be heresy but I'm building a Hardtail Partscaster.

I've picked up a MIM Tom Delonge body because it's pretty much the only hardtail you can get besides a Robert Cray. Bonus: Surf Green!

I'm waiting to pick up a MIA '06 Deluxe neck with a compound radius, soft V, and a maple fretboard with abalone dots. I'm going to slap some 60s RI hardware onto it.

I've also ordered a set of Bare Knuckle Mother's Milk pickups. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8JjU3QgxqA

Thoughts? Is this crazy or have I done a good thing? I guess if it's shit, I can always sell the parts and go back to my Am Standard.

True, but they're aiming to sell those things with cabs.
Same as the modelling stuff Boss just unveiled.
I'm already sick of this fad.
>>
>>61916829
the only problem with everyone's strategies for modeling so far is that they're going after less informed consumers by making high cost amps when people who play through computers are already generally well informed and know you really just need a USB interface and a DAW
>>
I'm experimenting with materials for muting at the moment, Velcro straps, foam, etc. Gives you some really cool "effects" and things you can do that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Velcro strap around the bridge/strings mutes them quite a bit and gives you a really interesting percussive sound, at the nut it basically does the same thing as a fret wrap. I'll maybe cobble together a few rhythm tracks with that stuff.
>>
>>61920199
Considering their pricing I doubt they're gonna be comparable to other might end modellers out there.

>>61916829
For my modelling rig I have the left channel sent to a power amp and cab with the right channel with a cab sim sent to the PA.

Hell they've already got a modeller which is miles ahead of these, the JMD:100.

Just decide on it.
Go with what best matches your lyrics and then decide what you're going to do with it.
Creating a song is like driving-you have to decide where you want to go, how to get there, and what you want to do while you're there.
>>
>>61917802

stop picking a key and a scale and that kind of shit and then attempting to turn that into a piece of music. confuised as to why your shit doesnt sound like t he shit that inspires you? its because youre pissing in the wind man. you cant come up with sick licks using a list of locker combinations.

stop agonizing over whats correct. does it sound good? then why the fuck are you dwelling on it?

I'm just getting into pedals after playing acoustic mostly for the last few years.

I'm loving what I have but fuck is it a pricey thing to get into.

Eg I want that red panda context (or old blood noise procession) but that's $200 for either.
>>
>>61921227
dude the old blood pedal is incredible

but yeah pedals are expensive as shit

dont forget how its not hard to get into diy efx. theres an initial investment you have to make in order to compile the tools youll need but after that the only actually expensive part is the aluminum enclosure you put the guts into.

r/diypedals is the jump-off point. PCBs are the most straight forward way of assembling circuits imo, but i prefer working with stripboard (aka vero board).

tldr its definitely within your grasp assuming youre not retarded

My teacher is basically putting all technique lessons for bass on halt until I can read sheet music at least semi-decently... I was focusing on technique so much (and I'm actually seeing progress there) but reading sheet music just won't go into my head for some reason, I know that it'll make me a more versatile player and that it'll be beneficial in the end, but holy fuck is it boring and oh boy does it seem like a waste of time right now when I could be practicing techinque instead.
Also, even though I'm a beginner, I'll get to play with a bunch of old guys and old profs at my Uni, which sounds kinda cool. We'll basically get drunk and play some folk music, and maybe rehearse a thing or two for opening ceremonies each year.

Ok first time on this board since I'm starting to play guitar, and I wanted to ask something that has been boggling me, why are chords played the way they are? Like, if a C-maj consists of the notes C, E and G, how is it decided which exact C, E and G are played out on the guitar? (also I just took Cmaj as an example, now I'm confused as to why I'm strumming C E C)

>>61921823
There's unisons and then seperate guitar and keyboard solos and then a bass break
>>
>>61921833
>how is it decided which exact C, E and G are played out on the guitar
you can play them anywhere as long as it's the same octave
>>
>>61921833
The chords you're learning are basically just for learning.

You can make those chords however you want on whatever part of the neck you want given the knowledge of how to finger it that way.
>>
>>61921833
https://youtu.be/rZr5k1_9Dds
>>
>>61921833
You're getting into phrasing , playing a specific note on a specific fret instead of elsewhere, example being playing A at the 5th fret on the low E/6th string as opposed to an open A on the A/5th string
>>
>>61921833

you can play a c major triad wherever you want as long as you incorporate C, E, and G. the few different patterns in your chord dictionary are absolutely not the only ways to do it.

>>
>>61921833
i think you're trying to ask a question about voicings and possibly inversions

the guitar is tuned in a way to make two full octave chord voicings easy to play. the CAGED system kind of goes into this, but you need to pay attention to the intervals and the way they change up the neck. different patterns create the same chord with different voicings up the neck.
>>
>>61921844
also I use Ernie not even slinky strings but replaced the 6th with a D'Addario 72' on the EC-1000 and a D'Addario 80' (sometimes 64') on the Hellraiser

well i might sound retarded but here goes my reason for using that kind of gauge

i was playing with like .56 and some 60's but i watched an interview with lee malia explaining his rig & he said he's using like .80's or something and I gave it a try, just to see what it feels/sounds like

it just sounds beefy as fuck, it's not about the tightness for me (ayy lmao), it just sounds really thick idk how to explain it

>>61921680
Yeah? The fuse is just there to say something's wrong.

This 'gera has hammed up biasing crap like a lot of new amps. You don't want this.

One of the knobs just broke. These are the worst knobs I've ever seen on an amplifier.

I got to play for a few seconds before it freaked out again. So I gotta fix the power amp then should be good to go.
>>
>>61922478
Yeah I saw that interview, was his rig run down where he appeared for about a quarter of it then his tech was in it for the rest to explain the difficult stuff lol.

Yeah fair enough, personally I've always preferred the lighter gauges for B/A as it sounds a bit sludgier which is what I go for. Trick that the guitarist of Twelve Foot Ninja showed was that the lighter gauge strings are better for that "djent" tone. Although my 7 has a 26.5" scale so that helps a bit lol. More people prefer 60/62 for B and that usually, one of the main users here (Adelaide-bro with his Gibsons, Ibby K-7 and 70's Fender) uses something like that, hoping he'd respond but he's not online right now.

Yup, because BMTH, well Lee Malia writes a lot of single-string riffs (songs like Alligator Blood, Chelsea Smile) , the .80 sounds really beefy, that's why there is not need to up-gauge the other strings, since that thick gauge punch sound on the 6th is all what's needed.

I might sound completely dumb while explaining this, I can't really explain stuff when it comes to my guitar preferences and such

Not him but it isn't On a 25.5" a 56 in A is making ~11.7lbs of tension. That's anything but tight.

I mainly tune to B Standard, but if I stayed in A I'd be using a 68 for the lowest string.
