What city are you all from and what is your local scene like?

Used to be a pretty strong crust punk and hardcore presence here but that's faded. Now we have a lot of power pop and surf rock bands playing at small venues.

It was never all gimmicky and country until NYC and LA started moving here and dressing up like cowboys.

Ska punk, generic indie and shit metal. Has a DIY scene full of mediocre shoegaze and emo revival bands.

varies, capitol hill seems to consistently have a lot of pop punk / loud derivative rock but there are some good indie acts sprinkled around too, I've just recently started getting into a local jazz improv gathering and it's all across the board weird, varies from avant garde to christmas hiphop apparently but it's strange in the best way. on a general scale though, I'd say that it's easier to find a shitty band in Seattle than a good one
